I was living in London, when they toured Australia and NZ. But, I got to see them about 4 times. The first time, I saw them, was in 1979/80, after they released "London Calling". To honest, I was really disappointed. When they toured, after releasing "Sandanista", they had a point to prove, the Music press had been giving them a hard time. I saw them at the Lycum in London. A gig to remember, they played most of the first album. Just one song, after another, tight and to the point. Fantastic band. One of the best.

Poor Topper withdrawing in another country with no support. Must've been so shitty to have accomplished so much and all that came of it was sickness and alienation.

Great bash from clash! Never seen anything like it. Psyched up rockabilly Simonon style two original members left and still the best band on the planet! The best band on the planet! The best………..!! !! -

The worst mistake was to get rid of Mick Jones. That's like John Lennon if he got rid of Paul McCartney.

To be honest in this clip Topper looks more like Stan Laurel (it’s meant as a compliment) as I always say Stan was the first with a punk hairstyle and in car music check out their movies)

Just like myself when i was younger and playing music, they also protrayed the "tough guy stance" but age humbles everybody ..funny how life works!

This is so painful to watch knowing Joe is so remorseful over what happened to his legendary band. Clearly they could have kept going making amazing records had Topper not been kicked out, Mick, egos, etc.

Topper was drug addict. But it was a mistake to fire Mick, who founded the band.

I could listen to them fumble through folk songs like this for hours, they sound great. I think my favorite part is towards the end where Mick makes a face at Joe singing "sister is gonna kiss my red ruby lips" 😂

Joe Strummer, born in Ankara to a diplomat with an MBE, lived in Africa and Mexico, raised in an exclusive fee paying boarding school, was living with Sir Terence Conland son around time this was filmed, in a Regents Park mansion, and here he is faking a cockney accent. Pantomime punk, and working on behalf of a subversive socialist agenda.

That's interesting that he says he would have got The Clash back together - glad it didn't happen though. Let's face it, if he'd have lived longer they probably would have done - except for the impeccable examples of The Jam and The Smiths, every other fucker has done.

Maybe I ate too many edibles, but I was starting to wonder what the hell I clicked on there in the beginning. Great interview, though, my heart kind of broke at how quick he was to enthusiastically say he wanted to get The Clash back together. I believe if he had lived longer they would have reformed and really enjoyed it.

Yeah, it was a big deal at the time. My channel really blew up. I wish I had a better camera at the time and could take longer videos. Looks like they didn't play this one much after this show. (matedog2)
