i own pigini peter pan, with converter, and since i am self-learner, i am looking for a book / pdf, suitable for learning free bass accordion; searching the web for days, i have only found 1 school - 'Progressive Method Volume x for Chromatic Free bass Accordion By Borgstrom/Charles', which is out of print, and borg's web page exists no more. can you perhaps share some more info about learning free bass accordion ? thx for sharing, have fun

I'm learning to play the piano and I'm thinking about taking up the accordion but I'm unsure what's best for me. I wish to play traditional music mainly. They say it's better a stradella bass but your arrangement is very nice and also the free bass seems less limiting. What's your opinion?
@AccordionStation2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ester! Thank you for writing. It's not an easy choice and at the end it depends mainly on your budget. Free bass instruments are actually instruments with convertor, that is a system that allows the left part of the instrument to switch between Stradella Basses (with pre-made chords) and free basses (with single notes). So, 99% of the free bass instruments have the Stradella Basses too. The negative side is that FB accordions are more expensive because they are mechanically more complex and, because they are not everywhere easy to find, proportionally even more expensive in the second hand market. But like you said, if you are a more advanced player, just SB can be limiting. And now with Musescore you can find many pieces that you can play with FB. I wish you good luck with the choice and with your music!

Hey hello i got an accordion that is only free bass(not converter or anything else) can i still play songs i like? i am a complete beginner
@ilfisarmonicistapazz3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it asks more work but it's possible. Which pieces do you like?
@llPipexll3 жыл бұрын
@@ilfisarmonicistapazz id like to play waltz in general, like waltz n°2 by shostakovich or play simple russian songs. My accordion is a bayan and has 36 free bass buttons. Would it be possible to play things i like? i also like the godfather waltz
@ilfisarmonicistapazz3 жыл бұрын
@@llPipexll it is possible and interesting but quite more difficult (find a good teacher) to learn those pieces on a free bass instrument. For what you want to play a simple standard bass instrument would be the most straightforward choice
@llPipexll3 жыл бұрын
@Luca Pignata I dont really know what to do, the instrument arrives in one week and sounds so hard already I didnt know what free bass was but i guess i can still figure out the way i can play the songs i like
@the_blind_sniper23422 жыл бұрын
@@llPipexll Look kzbin.info/www/bejne/moLSpaKugLV0pKM. There is a good information in that video and channel. I suggest starting with a good teacher. He is the best person to point the right path. If you don't get one, a good study method helps a lot. Unfortunately, the bayan free bass accordion study methods I know are in Russian. What study method do you use? The free bass accordion is an excellent instrument to play classical music, like waltz n°2 by shostakovich. Look for easy piano pieces. The most common mistake of beginners is wanting to play the music they like the most, without having the correct technique, and when the difficulty comes (and it comes quickly), the aspiring musician gives up on the instrument. Do not give up.
