Camaros, Nissan Zs, Porsche, Mustang, vintage VW Beetle... Sure people paid 500 bucks for each of them.

Now THIS is why I want to go LeMons racing! Deep down inside, I'm a frustrated Mark Donahue. I serioysly want to put myself to the test, to see if I'm good enough to cut it with other amateurs of my skill level. I've done some autocross over the years and have always finished in the top half of my division, even a second at a national event (OK, OK, it was the 1991 Corvair Society of America National Convention), but getting that second place in a car that I'd had for barely a month against a 3-time class winner and having my 11 year old daughter as my "pit crew" (and rally navgator), I think we did OK. I have my eye on several possible cars to run, including the 202,xxx mile 2006 Cobalt SS that I bought brand new in September of 2005 (that car is really special to me, so I think I would rather find it's twin). I know of a 1968 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow that could be mine for scrap value. It hasn't moved since 1985. With the $1,000 "Rolls-Royce waiver", I should be able to build something capable of lasting for a weekend of LeMons racing, not necessarily competitive for an overall, or even a class win, but a strong contender for the I.O.E.! Yes, I already have a theme and, no, I'm not going to say anything about it here! But I definitely think that showing up for our team's first race with a Rolls-Royce would definitely be a classy move! (Now all I need to do is recruit a team with a few more reasonably talented drivers and a couple of ASE-certified mechanics, all with passible British accents... 🙂)

Awesome video!! Lots of cool cars in that race actually! Someday I would like to get in on this action too. Do you need a racing license?

You need a normal road driving license. Racing licenses not acceptable as substitute.

Smart racing... way too early in the race, it's not for position, and you don't want penalty (for possibly passing under yellow), I completely agree it's best to loose that battle, and win the war! :-)

Thanks guys... It was a blast racing with you all, and congrats on your Monday win (how many is that now?!?!). We'll be back with another 737 soon. :-)

Yeah, the first incident at 0:45 was incredibly close. I thought the CRX was back under control but the driver hit the brakes with only the right front wheel on the pavement and spun the car back onto the pavement and directly into my path. There were about 6 cars right stacked up right behind me. Thankfully, they were all paying attention. At 1:57, why did you have your hand out the window?

@OttoMotif - Fair point you make there. Hopefully I waved my thanks once or twice as I came by...we all make a point on the team of trying to be as courteous as possible.

Thanks for the congrats. The Southworst car has great potential for a Class A/overall win. The theme rocks as well...especially when you bring the flight attendants like at Sears! See you again soon!
@5oh_Pony12 жыл бұрын
Yes, congrats on the win, a well-driven and executed race! We (Southworst) hope to contend overall (or at least class) wins in the future... we may have been right in the mix @ Thunderhill (finished 4th) if we could have eliminated a couple driving errors. Look forward to racing with you again soon!

This is probably the best of what we have. I would have to go back and look. I will do so when I have some time. I do remember there is a very short clip of the Rockstar car going really slow on the drag strip the lap before the crash, but it is really short as it was moving at 5-10mph and we went by on the other side of the track at a solid 80+mph, and there were cars obscuring it until right before the pass. I left it out as it wasn't that interesting.
