It's a weird comparison since both games belong to different genres. Obviously, the mechanics will not be the same, but it's safe to say Rivals is better than Avengers in more than one way.

imo the fighting in super soldier looks more fluent and I think Arkham-style fighting suits Cap alot

UE3 was ahead of its time truly one of the best game engines to exist and way better than UE4 so far also Arkham Asylum vibes and atmosphere has never been replicated in any Arkham game even Arkham Knight even when comparing them side by side Asylum looks and feels unique

Obviously Marvel's Avengers had a more realized kit for every hero. That's a different genre than a hero shooter who can only give so many abilities and has to conform to how other hero shooter kits are based around. I frankly loved playing cap in Avengers but there's so much more in Rivals like maps, better lore, and you actually fight other heroes in Rivals that it pales in comparison.

I sometimes hate Vergil's unchanged combat in DMC5. It seems like Capcom or Itsuno didn't really update his combat in DMC5. For instance, they could've added a new stance for Vergil, similar to how Dante has multiple styles. That's why I often think about what a new DMC game could bring in terms of mechanics. We need a new DMC game that doesn't involve the invisible walls reminiscent of PS2 games.
