The Air Force probably has twice as many officers as they need.

The only guys 'approving' and signing anything off for a safe and ready to fly aircraft are the 7-level maintainers. The maintenance, ops checks, and approvals end at the 7-level. Not even the Pro Supers can approve anything, until the 7-levels say so. Officers have nothing to do with it. Its why maintainers and officers do not talk to each other. Completely different worlds. You guys are funny....and clueless. - 20 year F117 and F22 crew chief

I am currently trying to go into the Airforce. It’s been a long process since last May but we are finally getting things done! I went to MEPS in June and was flagged for several medical things. After getting my scores back and completing these waivers it seems like I’m eligible for at least 6 officer jobs at the moment. Intelligence and Public Affairs to name a few. Is there any tips or tricks you would give to increase the chances of me getting these jobs? Especially in regard to the AFOQT?

Are there opportunities for intelligence officers in the private sector? What skills do you learn that would transfer to the civilian world? Comparing to 17D where they learn a lot of skills and get certificates that can broaden their civilian world prospects, is there anything similar that a 14N would learn that would learn that would broaden their civilian prospects? Or is a 14N pretty much locked into government positions?

Other countries have sergeants flying airplanes. I don't think you even need a degree to fly. I am 99% sure you will not use what you learned in college. I talked with a USAF Major with a masters degree in accounting. He said what he learned was useless when dealing with military accounting. When I was in service, they preferred recruits with no flying experience. That way you did not have to "unlearn' bad habits.

Interesting, but they didn't talk about what my experience was in the officer grades. I was in some time ago (1971-1991), so things may have changed since then. Promotions occur as stated with respect to what they said about 2ndLt through Capt. However, to Major and above, the promotion board looked at Officer Performance Reports (OPRs), your assignment history, education level, military PME completion, and who were your reviewing officers on the OPRs. The level of command of your reviewing officers recommending promotion carried a lot of weight and the way the report was written was done in such a way, almost in a code, that communicated you should be promoted above all others. The higher the command level in your reporting chain your OPR was signed off on, the more sway it could have with the board. 🙂

I'm finishing up college in the next year or so i have over 800 FH have up to my CFII but ill be 26 with two kids by the time I'm even trying to get a slot unfortunately I'm just now trying to join ROTC just curious what would my chances even be to fly?
@toxico1152
@toxico1152 23 күн бұрын
@ so through ROTC the most recent numbers that were released, 2022, it was a 70% selection rate for cadets to receive an enrollment allocation as an officer. If you make it past that then you can apply to pilot training. That selection is around 35-45% with the average candidate scores getting higher every year. You’ll need a PCSM in the 90s, (research this), a PFA in the 90s, above a 3.5cgpa, and a commanders ranking above the 50th percentile. If you are already done with your bachelors that’s a different story I understand you’ll have to go through Officer training school and I’ve no knowledge of that
@toxico1152
@toxico1152 23 күн бұрын
@ I recommend finding a way to take the AFOQT and the TBAS tests to see your Pilot Candidate Selection Method (PCSM) score. It’s very achievable if you do well in this area as it’s worth 45% of your overall Order Of Merit (how they rack and stack the applicants). Flight hours are included in this PCSM as a composite score and will boost it significantly.

You guys are going to have to make a decision with the incoming Trump administration. Those people lack good moral character and have zero respect for military service or ethics. Glad I am retired from military service now. Working with those people would be a huge challenge. As officers, I expect you both to remember what is important. Which is your oath. Remember the words you spoke and the document you swore to support and defend against all enemies, both foreign and DOMESTIC. The American people, both Trump voters and non Trump voters, are watching you. Do not fail us!

People are much more capable of performing under artificial stress than we realize. It is real life stress that truly separates the real performers from the rest. OTS was just a pressure cooker when I went through and the one thing I took away with me was that anything worth having will never come easily. Some of the officer instructors were just complete jerks while others were very professional. The only enlisted guy there was the MTI who taught drill and ceremonies. Our upper class to the man and woman were living in their own little world. Most of our lower class hated them. When we became the Upper Class, we helped our Lower Class get ahead. We taught them secrets to success at OTS. The standards are set to make one fail so one can be trained. In the "real AF" (whatever that is), one must learn what it takes to pass major inspections (ORI, MEI, NSI etc.) If you don't know what those are then you are fortunate. Each day as an officer, you must accomplish and record those accomplishments. You can not be a wall flower. People must know who you are and why YOU are important to the mission. If you fly, you can not just fly, you do other things to get recognition. If you are non-rated, then success depends on how well your airmen and NCOs perform. Do things for people, not to them. Defend people, do not persecute. You may need them one day (and you will). OTS is just something one must suffer through. Remember, one day at a time is sometimes the best do we can get but tomorrow will come, one way or the other. What goes around, comes around. None of those OTS instructor or MTIs will ever have a person come back to them and say: thank you.

Job satisfaction has always been and always will always be the prime motivation for anyone to stay in the service. The pay is horrible and the promotion system changes every time there is an overage in the enlisted or officer ranks. Then is when the lies come out and careers are ruined all in an effort to curb inflation. In all actuality, the AF is just down sizing or right sizing or what ever lie they can used to hoodwink the masses.

Michael Quijano, has a child with a black woman. They lived overseas Clark Airforce Based and attempted to murder the child during a medical procedure while living overseas so FBI CIA using inner ear communication to murder me as a child. Now they used years of surveillance to choose what information personal details they can use to paint their target as criminal when U.S Goverment intelligence wanted to homicide the test subject/ target before internet was created. U.S intelligence FBI hackers wanted to murder a child before the internet was even created. Federal intelligence refers to the target as a N-word then isolates the victim to inflict mental triggers because they had an issue with blacks before the internet was ever created.

Glad I was in AMC. At least in there our planes for the most part have a galley, lavatories, sometimes a comfort pallet and if one asks nicely, a friendly loadmaster nice enough to bring up a cup of coffee. Try doing that in a fancy pants fighter jet and wearing a piddle pack. No thanks!

In 1984 the Marine Corps used TRASH CANS for wake up calls. My bunky cried the first three days and the first morning one man jumped on line with an erection and I am sure he still has ED today (for an hour (I'm sure it was seconds) they SCREAMED "DO YOU LIKE ME" to him. We had one guy try to JUMP from the 3rd floor ladder well and the drill instructors PLOWED through everyone, snatched him by the belt and carried him like a helpless animal back inside, dropped him on the floor and turned to us and yelled, "I DIDN'T GIVE ANYONE PERMISSION TO DIE. YET!" Many dropped to their knees balling their eyes out at that point.
