I don't think any medic would be able to save him, third grade burns all over his body are almost impossible to survive, espoecially with medicine back then, so what might happen is just medic giving him something to stop pain and he would die in both cases

Chernov will be alive for a little while how long no one knows but i can be assumed hed die within an hour. He could be saved nowadays but any random medic would not have the equipement to save him. How in retail chernov is left to die is a very....haunting poignant ultimate fate for him to be honest.

Yeah, it has everything: -Chernov lying on the ground snd suffering -Reznov not even thinking twice before shooting him, and not saying any last words -Reznov shooting multiple times instead of one merciful shot, as if it was some German soldier in front of him -Chernov acting as if he didn't want to be shot, and after he's shot he still moves his limbs in the most unsetting manner possible -Reznov instantly running inside Reichstag, as if what happened is not a big deal

The way Oldman delivered the "he is suffering, you know what you should do" line definitely doesn't mesh with the tone of the "someone should read this" version of the scene, or even the "Chernov, noooo!" in both versions. To me at least, that line read comes off as overly dark and malicious, almost like he's happy to finally have an excuse to get rid of Chernov, and when Dmitri won't do it, Reznov doesn't hesitate to do it himself. In the retail version, the tone of the scene is consistent all the way - Reznov is genuinely shocked and troubled by Chernov's death and feels regret and sadness for how he treated him up to that point

I would've reversed it, keep the first part as original and take the diary and comfort Chernov, letting him know in his final conscious moments that despite constantly disapproving and even punishing his attitude to war, Reznov still cared deep down about him to the point that he would try to carry on his memories despite berating him earlier for his diary. Then shoot him as quick as possible instead of even waiting for Dimitri to choose as he usually does to further emphasize the point.

If he had survived by some miracle he'd have been invalided or discharged, With those severe burns he wasn't fit for service.
