First time ever happened to me and was genuinely confused that my emblem was gone to find this out wtf is wrong with people
@bb82155 ай бұрын
I know! I thought maybe it came off in the car wash.
@TheKatimation5 ай бұрын
@@bb8215 Funny enough, I did get a car wash before I noticed it was gone. It could've been either that or the other. Either way, it is still upsetting having to replace it :c this tutorial is helpful to want to replace it on a budget!
@jeffreyshelton72736 ай бұрын
I just replaced this for my elderly mother. Some vandals scraped off the H on the emblem. God knows why. This video and the resultant injuries is spot on. Wear long-sleeves to protect yourself or take off the grille and bumper. My first thought was just to find a Hyundai "H" sticker and plop it on. The emblem is connected by three plastic tabs and two screws. Hers did not have any electronics in it - just an expensive hunk of plastic.

I have a jeep, being an american car it has let me down a few times. My TR6 on the other hand, never has.
@mikezupancic21828 ай бұрын
No, they didn't try to pry, it just fell off. I was at the dealer and they were checking my oil. When they dropped the hood, the plastic part on the front just fell off onto the ground. It's only held on by a small amount of glue. (then I accidentally ran it over at home when I left it on the hood and moved my car)
@Ryzard2 ай бұрын
No, they absolutely try to pry them off. Some variants of this car have sensors in the front that people try to steal. I can tell because mine had direct scraping around it.
@mikezupancic21822 ай бұрын
@@Ryzard if you say so. I've literally seen them fall right off before my eyes. But you pretend people want to steal your shiz

Worthless Video. It is correct to state the cause of a No Start is either Fuel or Ignition. However the average person does not have the Diagnostic Ability or Repair Expertise. These types of videos assume the viewer is at least a 'B' Tech and carries an extra Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Carburetor, Ignition Coil, Distributor Condenser, or Ignition Switch. Make sure you also carry the necessary tools !
@bb82159 ай бұрын
That's the whole idea of the video. To show people that almost anyone can diagnose and fix these cars. They are very simple. A little bit of research will tell them the basic tools they need to do the basic repairs. The problem with these cars, because they are relatively unreliable compared to new cars, is that people spend a small fortune paying a mechanic to do the most basic repairs. There's nothing wrong with teaching someone how to save money by doing the work themselves. Carry a few spares and some basic tools and you can save yourself a lot of cash and hassle. No one is born a 'B' tech as you say. It is learned. Everybody has to start somewhere 👍
@emilefouquet90059 ай бұрын
@@bb8215 They are not unreliable relative to their average use. You failed to respond to the question of which Tools and Spares are you going to carry ? As a TR-6 owner and ex Automotive Instructor you are out of touch with reality. The logistics of Diagnosing and Repairing your junk in the shoulder of a highway or some country road is absurd. Perhaps you should give a real example of either yourself or someone else that did what you're suggesting.
@bb82158 ай бұрын
@@emilefouquet9005 Apparently you failed to watch the entire video. If you watch the whole video, you would see at the end I show what's in the trunk, the tools and the spares I carry. As far as tools go, I just have a small bag full of typical tools. Sockets, ratchets, open end box wrenches, pliers screwdrivers. You know the basic stuff. Everything is SAE. Nothing is metric on these cars. I can give you plenty of examples where I fix the car on the side of the road. Why do you say it's absurd? Because you're not able to do it? And if you are, why would you prefer to call a tow truck? Because of the spares and tools I carry in the trunk, I was able to diagnose and fix a problem on the side of the road three times In the last 3 years and get home without having to call a tow truck. If you call that absurd, then I really don't know how I can possibly reason with you. And, I didn't say that they were unreliable relative to their average use, as you say. I said they are unreliable relative to new cars. If your TR6 is as reliable as a new car, then you are very lucky man! Join a forum or Facebook page dedicated to TR6s and you will find hundreds of posts regarding regular problems with these cars. If you are a mechanic and are knowledgeable about these cars, then do like I do. Join a forum or Facebook page and help people instead of criticizing them. As an "ex-automotive instructor" as you say you are, you should understand the value in teaching people how to repair their cars. 👍

I notice that you are not using the correct fuel hose clamps, please change them. Also, if you haven't already done it, please make sure that all your fuel hoses are Gates Barticade 30R14 for carbs which will not degrade with the ethanol in fuel. Keep an eye on the diaphragm in any mechanical fuel pump you might be using because if they fail due to ethanol, they can allow fuel to enter the engine!
@bb821510 ай бұрын
Correct fuel hose clamp? Do you mean fuel injection hose clamp?
@zekehanscom586910 ай бұрын
The spark should jump to any ground. Valve cover, etc. Isn't the reason for your clear fuel filter to see the fuel flowing?
@bb82158 ай бұрын
Yes, I have two clear filters. One before the fuel pump and one before the carburetors. The reason why I mention how to pump the fuel into a jar is that some people do not have a clear filter and are unable to see quickly if they are getting fuel or not.

@@bb8215 Just saying that glass is dangerous.
@bb82158 ай бұрын
@@zekehanscom5869 potentially, yes they can be dangerous. But I've been using them for decades without any problem. As long as you mount them safely where they won't break then they shouldn't be a problem. I really don't like the metal ones that you can't see through. I had one disintegrate and send filter particles all through my fuel system. Total mess.

Yeah, it's a weird design. The clear lens on the front of the badge popped off, and the actual emblem is just made of a kind of foil that shreds immediately when the lens comes off. I'm just going to have my son 3D print something to replace the Hyundai logo.

Do not underestimate the use of a stubby phillips screwdriver. If doing this in warm weather a pair of pliers can also release the clips. I have smaller arms and still scraped them up. I should have listened about the long sleeves. Thank you for posting this alternative fix. The new emblem looks great.
@bb82153 жыл бұрын
Sorry I didn't record while I was doing it. I didn't really think of it truthfully. But I couldn't find any other good videos on how to do this. This may not be the correct or the best way to do it but it works for me. Make sure you wear a long sleeve shirt or some type of protection to keep from cutting up your arm while you are removing the screws from the back of the emblem.
