I am willing to bet they used liquid smoke to get the smoky flavour. They burn the wood, powderize the charcoal, put it in a water bath, and then filter out the particulate matter. What's left is liquid smoke. It has a harsh chemical aftertaste when overdone.

I'm over a year late to these (still catching up). As cathartic as the woodworking itself is to have on in the background, these videos really shine when Darren sees the finished product for the first time. I had no idea that butter beer was an actual thing instead of a Harry Potter movie drink. Though when I was a kid we used to have a soda pop called butterbeer that was a butterscotch flavored shugary drink.

Out of curiosity, I went back to your mint chocolate orange video, and you only complained about the jaw soreness in the final stretch, so perhaps there is water to the theory that the chemical composition is different in the two flavours. My only counter would be that in that race, you were eating single segments more often, so perhaps in getting a different saliva to chocolate ratio, you would achieve an overall faster time. Either way, experimentation is clearly needed 😉

HAPPY VLOGMAS DAY 24!!! HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVE!!! Fun fact. I've eaten in exactly 4 KFC restaurants around the US and Canada...and have gotten food poisoning in all 4 of them.... The Japanese KFC Christmas tradition was started when KFC was about to go bankrupt in Japan and be made redundant. They decided to lie to Japan and tell them Americans all ate KFC for Christmas dinner and it stuck in Japan. I had friends from Japan that moved to my home town (Japanese manufacturing plant was built there) and they were shocked to find out we ate turkey and ham for Christmas and not KFC.

It's not even really an eastern lager either. I'm in Queensland and typically you see Great Northern, Carlton Dry, XXXX Gold, Tooheys, Coopers, Pure Blonde, Hahn, Corona, etc. Fosters is rare these days.

HAPPY VLOGMAS DAY 23!!! Traditionally we leave out Christmas cookies like gingerbread men and other decorated cookies along with whole milk. None of that blue stuff you have there. My buddy in Tasmania says Fosters isn't Australian. It's sh*t beer made for tourists. Foster's was created by two Americans in Melbourne in 1886. Carlton Draught is the most popular beer in Australia. I really enjoyed this one and can't wait for tomorrow's video!!! Happy Christmas Eve...Eve!
@NewfordsTryАй бұрын
“Blue” milk in the UK is whole milk (and a as a rule of thumb, the only milk I would routinely use…) As for the Fosters… I’d agree with your friend that’s it’s crap made for tourists. Definitely Australian if it was developed in Melbourne though 😉 Looking forward to Santa touring some more exotic countries tomorrow!

HAPPY VLOGMAS DAY 22!!!!! ONLY 3 SLEEPS UNTILL CHRISTMAS!!! Brenda is such a sweetheart. Next time roll the dough out a bit thicker and you'll get much better results. We used to make these every year in Sunday School for the kids to take home and give as gifts to grandparents along with a plastic jar full of the flour and salt. Also you can add food coloring to make it even more festive or get paints and go wild!!!
@NewfordsTryАй бұрын
Love the advice! I thought they were too thick?! They didn’t seem to dry out like i expected
@Plasmastorm73Ай бұрын
@@NewfordsTry There might be too much water in the dough. You want to add it a little at a time until the dough just comes together in what is called a shaggy mess, as you kneed it it smooths out and becomes like modeling clay. If you use room temp water it works best.

In am actually surprised at the amount of filling. Here in the US the pies are smaller and have a pittance of filling. Once upon a time in America, McDonalds had Apple and Cherry pies, the Cherry pies were even better than the apple, but McDonalds cut costs and dropped them from the menu to a big uproar of customers. I STILL miss their cherry pies. When the cat has got your tongue there's no need to dismay Just summon up this word and then you've got a lot to say Better use it carefully or it could change your life you can lose all of your to your Terry's pies to hungry wife THEY'RE Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!!
