Love to see it!! When I was teaching pilot training in the Air Force, a couple of my fellow instructor pilots were former crop duster pilots...some of the best & most experienced pilots we had in our squadron!! Awesome footage!!🪱🪱🪱

It is interesting. I have heard that turning it more helps introduce oxygen which helps the pile to break down as well as heat up. Why don't you want the pile to get hot? I've always thought once a week would be ideal but that's my situation. Some people argue that when layered properly you don't need to turn much at all. Thanks for sharing.
@jayteaman3 ай бұрын
Daily oxygen introduction is what I'm shooting for. I don't have a thermometer in there but it's getting noticeably warmer every day. Thanks for watching! I'll be heading back out there in a few hours to turn it for day 5!
@theelpydimension3 ай бұрын
@@jayteaman I have struggled to get myself out there once a week! Lol! This summer I've barely turned. Now it'll be an unintended experiment of how well it breaks down despite turning! Lol. Not looking good. Had I turned I'd probably have a batch for fall. Geez. Good luck!
@theelpydimension3 ай бұрын
what motivated you to turn it daily? Interesting experiment.

I was reading about the Berkley Method, where the material is chopped finely and turned daily. This is the same approach but I didn't chop my green stuff too well.

This is something of an experiment! I have a lot of large green materials which I kept relatively intact. I want to see if turning every day helps it all break down faster without getting the pile too hot.

@leeroybrown1873 ай бұрын
No offense, but we've had multiple compost heaps for literally decades and we've never turned them once. I assume you're trying to promote digestion? But if anything you're doing the opposite, killing off the anaerobic activity that helps break down the matter. Your energy is best used elsewhere; let nature do it's thing
