My father flew the F4U-4 Corsair and this seems to be along those lines. He talked about flying over a mountain or hill and cutting the throttle and falling out of the sky. Dropping bombs or firing guns where jets couldn't go. Maybe a worthless comment but they brought the Corsair back just for that reason.

Saw it in action and it's accuracy with missiles 1981-82! In view for 10 seconds or less it was guided by a lazer sight the Sgt deployed with me sighting it on its different targets. Hard Targets didn't survive and I painted the targets with the lazer! CAS the Sgt was in communication with the Tank Killer as we called them and told me when to change target. Training was rather disappointing as our opponent took it as just training. This hubris caused their downfall! Total amount of the Tank Killer being in veiw for Three different attack planes, was under a minute! A U S. Air Force aircraft then the U. S. Navy aircraft with the U. S. M. C. Tank Killer shot the last two hard targets!

Pronounced 2- Lee is correct . I would know as l worked at J - Site a total of 6 1/2 years in the 60's and 70's . Was there when the B -52 crashed and the J - Site radar dome burned . Lived with the lnuit 10 years later .

No matter how hard they try to replace the A-10, they always fail. They always try a high flying fast mover and that is not what will replace the A-10. Look at what make's the A-10 so good at what it dose and make a plane exactly like the A-10. Better yet stop trying to design a new plane and just the A-10 tougher and harder. This way you save boot's on the ground and money. You're not going to redesign the perfection of old school perfection but you can make the old design better.

I live under a MOA and a Army Vet and until last year had A-10s screaming over the house loosening my roofing shingles and detassling the Corn. They flew so low you could see the pilots helmets chasing each other around (they always flew in pairs). Now the Ft Wayne ANG reverted back to F-16's after a couple of decades of the A-10's. I'll miss them...
