Thank you for this video. Trying to decide whether to take the train or fly from Copenhagen to Oslo in July. Wanted to get a sense of the scenery en route by train. Your advice on ""Komfort" class is helpful. And, as others have commented, your music works very well.

Thanks Jon..The buffet is closed Gothenburg to Oslo on that train so take a picnic 🧺 there is free on tap coffee in Komfort class

Great vid Paul. As someone said, the music and film together captures the winter vibe of Scandinavia. Have really enjoyed watching it over and over! NZ is of course a long way away from Europe but nevertheless I have been lucky to visit a number of parts of Europe and do some rail adventures. Have never got to the nordic countries. But you've inspired me to head that way early next year and looking forward to my own rail adventure there. One question, how did you sail into Copenhagen? I found a train ferry from Hamburg (Thanks to Mr Seat61) but it goes tp Roedby, not Copenhagen. So I'm confused about that part of your video.
@EuropebyTrain6 жыл бұрын
Hey,,thanks so much for watching. The train goes on the ferry at Puttgarden in Germany then sails to Rodby where it leaves the ferry back on the rails all the way to Copenhagen through Denmark!
@yasukiwi6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul. Oh so it was the ferry into Rodby. Ok now I'm on the right track for that!

Thank you for your ambient travel videos. So much more enjoyable than all the noisy ones out there. Captures the vibe of scandinavia (especially in the wintertime) very well. Nature comes close and you just shut up! Going chill is a treat and a challenge, loving you for it! Keep the good work up. In essence, cool!

Was the train air conditioned? I intend to take the SJ train from Goteborg to Oslo in the next week, and I'm a little bit afraid that it's gonna be too hot inside. I have not very pleasant experience with high speed trains in Italy in which air conditioning wasn't fnctioning at all. I can't stand hot temperatures.
@EuropebyTrain6 жыл бұрын
Not been on the SJ on that route but I can tell you on the NSB trains the buffe is closed on that route. It was winter so the heating was on!

train on ferry has a long history in Denmark, due to Denmark's geography of being scattered across numerous islands. Most smaller local ferries in the country, including this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWe1aK1vfNeDkK8 between the islands of Fyn and Als, still have the rails on their lower decks (even if unused lately). The Oeresund ferry from Helsingør to Helsingborg is among them, too!

Interesting...thanks

Thanks for a very interesting video, and the lovely, peaceful music you put with it. Despite the fact that trains will no longer use the ship after next month, I'm still tempted to go this way if I go from Berlin and Hamburg up to Copenhagen on the final leg of my UK and Europe trip next year.
@EuropebyTrain7 жыл бұрын
Glad I did it before they stopped using it! what is the alternative route?
@tobys_transport_videos7 жыл бұрын
There's a new bridge I found on Google Maps. Hopefully this link works out for you. All I did was put in "Hamburg, Germany, to Copenhagen, Denmark, as my start and finish points, and select "train" as my method of travel.
@EuropebyTrain7 жыл бұрын
Cool..I read about a possible tunnel a while back so will check this bridge thing our. Thanks for the info. :-)
@TouringAV7 жыл бұрын
the tunnel is a different story -- most likely, routes involving a bridge run via Odense and the Storebaeltsbridge, shown here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/inbcaJZoepWtm6sm43s
@hassanalihusseini17177 жыл бұрын
DC4916 Productions: No, the ferry service will continue some years. May be you are talking about the alternative route from Hamburg via Jutland? The connection between Femern (Fehmarn in German) and Lolland in Denmark via tunnel (not bridge) will not be opened for several years to go. So believe me, you can use the ferry train from Hamburg to Copenhagen in all 2018. :-)

@EuropebyTrain7 жыл бұрын
Not sure..Think its just the ICE train
@andrewsebastianrothgarnant3507 жыл бұрын
It´s the same! The only difference between the ICE and EC trains on that route is the type of train. Trains branded as "ICE" are operated by German ICE-TD trainsets and "EC/EuroCity" are operated by Danish IC3 trains

Sorry to be rather negative, but I find it very strange that you travelled two scenic lines, Oslo to Trondheim and Trondheim to Bodo by night train! (Boden to Stockholm there are only night trains.)
