No its not at all, my friend dropped it in the toilet, now its not working properly(system closing and random restarting, touch screen not working properly, finger print malfunctioning and so on), it has water damage now, but he does not know how important things are, every phone he get he treats like it easy replaceable, now EE will not replace it so his own fault really, he only had it for 6 months... wow... if you treat things like crap then what do expect, he's a idiot, he should treat the phone like its the only phone you'll ever get, I do and never use your phone in the bathroom or kitchen or anywhere there's water then if you drop it, it will be OK because a drop is better then dropping it in water... :) Google should say its only rain proof not waterproof and it shows that phones now a days are not worth the price they are asking for them, I never buy a Google phone I do not like its icons and that, it feels cheap, I have flashed Cyanogen Mod on one of my phones before, it the closes you get to Google Android, even before they made phones and never liked it and never have owed a Google phone, best phones are Samsung so only ever owned a Samsung Galaxy, they are the best smart phones. NOTHING is fully waterproof, if they say it is then they are lying. Need a video of dropping it in the toilet then flush it and see if it works after, thats why its meant to be waterproof really, because a lot of people drop smartphones in the bog... :)

I owned a samsung a few years ago and loved it. Great phones for sure, but I do have to say that I don't believe that Google is advertising them as waterproof, even if they meet the standards. I use mine to check my email in the shower pretty much every morning, so I'd agree that it is 100% waterproof. Maybe the issue was that it was dropped into a toilet bowl at the same time? Feel sorry for your buddy, but I haven't had a problem with mine. I love my phone. I hope that he had insurance!!!

I did buy the HyperX Pudding Black keycaps. The letters are barely visible. Your keycaps are very bright in the video. Also on the black Razer keycaps the lightning on the letters is terable on this keyboard. Is this because of the color of the keycaps? I need BIG FET BRIGHT letters.
@ireakhavok
@ireakhavok 5 ай бұрын
so, yes. The Black keycaps will absorb instead of reflect the light, like the white keycaps. I would definitely suggest getting the white pudding keycaps if you need some bright letters. you could also look up some switches like the Durock Blue Lotus that use a form of fibre optics to "pipe" the light to the keycap.
@fvheel

@@ireakhavok The Durock Blue Lotus do look and sound nice but i can not find any video how the lightning looks like. At the front is some defused window? @@fvheel so for your keyboard, which is North facing, the window will be at the back, by the legends. The keyswitch is rotated 180 degrees. some other boards will use south facing sockets, which puts the light at the front. I'm assuming that you have the Mountain Everest, yes?

What was the point of downloading the via app at all? So they just updated to Agent 2.0, which was literally extremely easy to upgrade the firmware, just a FYI. But this is still one area that it could improve. The layers are the only thing that control the RGB, currently, except for brightness. you can adjust the brightness of alpha's separately from other keys, then you can also adjust the brightness of the LED that displays the type of layout. Not much! I don't mind that much, but he did say some years ago that he would be implementing more control over it. I do not know when, so this may be something we can bring up in either his monthly blogs or directly reach out to them and ask, to see if it's on the roadmap.

There were some big changes to the V2 of the build, and I honestly don't see new changes coming any time soon. You can also reach out to him directly or on his website and he could address any of your concerns personally. I am VERY happy with this keyboard. @ireakhavok Жыл бұрын
So, normally, for tall profile switches in a standard keyboard - the sound change from foam is usu around 60-75 percent. but in this case, probably half from the switches and half from the foam. Just because the switch anatomy is so different and has less space than a normal switch, so the lube does a better job at sound control.

I don't think you can really go wrong with corsair vs other "gaming" brands. I do think that the lube was really helpful here because these switches are a little more scratchy than other switches. Wouldn't any increase in productivity you get from using a custom keyboard be far outweighed by the time you spend modding it? Especially if you're making dozens of them? I am also in the hobby and have made a LOT of keyboards, but I feel like most of the benefits come from the satisfaction you get from creating and using something that is just for you. But if I had to defend it in terms of practicality or productivity, it would be tricky.

a one-time 4 hour session where I'm watching netflix at the same time? It's 100% justifiable, but I understand your point. In a best case scenario to your point, and to answer it fully, I feel that over the course of that keyboard's lifetime you would be able to make up the 10 - 12k word deficit that you would have lost, 100 times over, easily. I actually went and typed 10k words without stopping and it took me just over 3 hours of time, so that would be the metric I'm using. When I have to use a non-mech, I literally cringe and get distracted by it - so now it's kind of even more important that I use a mech. Thanks for the comment and your opinion! Yes, dozens of them do take up time, but I'm not asking others to be as eccentric as I am with keyboards, but just to get into the hobby and have just one :P

@@ireakhavok To be clear, as I said, I have also made a lot of keyboards, and I really enjoy it. I just feel like justifying it from a productivity standpoint is a stretch. Sure, if you were just building one keyboard then the time involved in the build is justifiable. But as I'm sure you know, we in the hobby spend a lot of time not only building boards, but also keeping up with the latest group buys and releases, fine tuning things, etc. For me at least, there is no way the time (and money!) I've invested is worth it from a purely productivity-based standpoint. I guess my larger point is that it doesn't really need to be justified. I enjoy it. I enjoy researching things, and seeing a build come together. I also type a lot in my job and switching boards helps keep things fresh. I think that's the real appeal of the hobby, at least to me.

I'm glad you have an opinion, but it doesn't have a trackball for me! I must say that the raises a much prettier board.

@@ireakhavok You got me there. Raise does have mouse function, Which I sparingly use. you are only as good as the tools you use.

@@ryanjohnston7917 I couldn't agree more. The raise is also cheaper! The only time I would say that a trackball/pad/point is an absolute game changer is when you do something like coding that requires a ton of text / line manipulation. It isn't as good as a mouse is in most games, etc, but you could def get away with it in RTS / Strat games, like civ 6

Consider making them hot swappable?

So this I did think about, but this is much harder to pull off. What it comes down to is that the board isn't clean and getting all of the gunk out is practically impossible for all of the key spots. Hot swap sockets are very finicky and need to have an absolutely perfect and clean pcb. All of the other problems are manageable.
