Would the presence boost in the 'Bite' switch be considered high treble/Normal treble frequencies or high mid/normal mid frequencies? Also, on the drive channel, does any of the frequency knobs affect the the saturation of the Bite switch when engaged? Same question for the Hpf? Apologies for the stacked questions.
@Tech21nyc
@Tech21nyc Күн бұрын
The Bite switch is high treble frequencies. The Bite switch is an independent circuit that is "pre" tube emulation. When the mid is set to 2K and "pre" it can add more bite or take away some of the bite if frequencies are cut. The HPF only takes away lows, so it doesn't really effect the highs generated by the bite circuit.
@timtapp5931
@timtapp5931 Күн бұрын
@@Tech21nyc obliged for your response! I realize those questions may have been a bit confusing. Last question please: does the bite affect the mids in either scoop or boost fashion?
@Tech21nyc
@Tech21nyc 10 сағат бұрын
@@timtapp5931 The Bite adds a presence boost and cleans up the low end. It is recommended for higher distortion settings where too much low end can get flabby although you also have the Crossover function as well. We get these types of questions a great deal but in the end the XB Driver like all of our products was designed and tuned by "ear" and all the functions are integrated to achieve the desired outcome. A few minutes playing the pedal with your bass, through your rig is the best way to see/hear whether or not it will work for you. Reading specs only gets you so far.

Clean compressed low frequencies mixed with uncompressed distorted high frequencies is ideal for a bass to cut through in the mix. This unit accomplishes that!

Fantastic preamp. Only comment would be to have a toggle to select the effects loop to be after both signals combine (how it is now) or on the HPF chain only (keep the clean LPF side unaffected) Would be a great V2 MOD

I have one of the 2112 rackmount units. The problem with it is that it has two separate channels for the low end and one for the top. So it’s not as simple as what they’re showing. I contacted them sansamp. They showed me away to combine the two and only take one channel.

Darkglass obsolete
@faithnoman2635
@faithnoman2635 9 күн бұрын
I don't know about that. Just because something has more features doesn't mean another thing wasn't made right in the first place. Example, the Darkglass VMT is one of the best drives I've had, and I've had many, many pedals, many of them being Tech21(I'm a fan of them as well). But I don't like Darkglass' turn towards digital pedals as much - that's where I am a big fan of Tech21. 25:52 is a great example of why I like Darkglass' upper end crunch compared to Tech21's.

I know it sucks and I don't know exactly where you live but alot of European countries have Value-Added Tax (VAT) which is higher than sales tax here in the U.S. And that makes products more expensive in Europe. US sales tax rate is in the 7-9% range while the average EU VAT rate is around 22%. But the VAT is already included in the European price. The $500 price you see for us in the United States is before our sales tax is added which we pay when we purchase the Sansamp. There's also the distribution costs to ship products to Europe. We all know how expensive fuel is these days so that gets added in as well. Then there's the currency exchange rate. Right now $1 United States dollar equals .92 Euro. So with the U.S. dollar being worth more than the Euro that also makes the price higher for you guys. So the higher price for you guys has nothing to do with what Tech 21 is doing. They aren't purposely raising prices to make more money from you guys. It's all the things I mentioned above adding up to make it more expensive, unfortunately.

I bought the Bass Fly Rig v2. I love the pedal (the preamp part), but not the FX part of it. I don't need that. But I have a problem, I want to buy separate effects/pedals (tuner, compressor, SansAmp, drive, etc.) and I really like my SansAmp tone! I love it! I use the compressor level at 12, comp at 9. The SansAmp: Char in (activated) without Bite (no Bite push), Drive 1 at 9, Drive 2 at 10, Low at 3, Mid at 1.5, High at 1.5, Level 1 at 10, Level 2 at 10 (only a little more drive - and volume from the drive - between channel 1 and 2). No cab sim, I use the cab sim from my Darkglass Microtubes X Ultra. I want to buy the PolyTune 3 Mini, Empress Bass Compressor Blue SPK, (and here is my problem) SansAmp BDDI v2 or the Character VT DI !!!, and I have the Darkglass Microtubes X Ultra for nu-metal/djent style distorsion (now I use the Bass Fly Rig v2 with the Darkglass, I want to go for individual pedals for better control). I love my settings and tone of the SansAmp preamp on my Fly Rig v2, I want the same sound/character, BDDI v2 or VT DI? Because on my Fly Rig v2 I have the Char in, and that is the sound what I love, I presume that the BDDI v2 is the closest, no?

This is a really great pedal. I have one and I also have the version 1 which I use along with it on all my gigs. I have shelved all my stomp boxes in favour of those. I have to say that I thought the interview guy was a bit rude and inconsiderate in talking about Les Paul when Richie was doing his demo. It could have thrown Richie off from his dialogue but he coped well and still a great demo.👍

@Tech21nyc

C# would be 34.7Hz for the fundamental. The range of your speaker system needs to be considered as well. Pedals usually work best before the the input. It's always best to experiment and see (hear) which sounds best to you.

Those are some of the best showcasing of the Tech21 gear possible..... and it's just great music.

Unity gain can be a challenge with distortion because of the extra harmonics and compression factor. I was once so worried about my fuzzy tone (for the "Dance to the Music" solo) blowing out the sound guy that my fuzz level was much quieter than my clean level. The solution would have been to compare dirty to clean during soundcheck... but that was my oversight.

Pffft... Geddy did all that stuff AND sang. Poser... Haha! Awesome! That sounds GREAT! I have one of those pedals, and while I had to calm it WAY down because I play Music Man basses (already pretty raunchy) and because I'm usually playing less 'inyerface' stuff than Rush tunes, it gives me exactly the balls and mid bite I've always been trying to beat out of my poor, faithful G-K amps without having to work them so hard. Can't recommend enough, and I don't even record with that setup, which it's OBVIOUSLY just superlative at. If you think you even MIGHT want one, pull the trigger, there's a lot more there than you probably think. I even use it with my upright to pick up fingerboard noise without getting too harsh with the overtones. It's a FANTASTIC unit. As always, amazing playing, thank you!
