pouring too slowly and moulds not preheated enough is why they keep not looking right after you pour also probably not getting forge hot enough either

Nice video. I'm not what the purity of the silver was, but I would bet it wasn't over 85%. Lower purity of silver, can make the bars come out black. Your silver may have been hot enough when you took it out of the crucible, but you need to pour about 3 times faster than you did. The silver was hardening in seconds, because the temperature was too low. But still a good video!!

I just bought a Queens Reign Maple. The maple leaf side is nicely colour toned but the Queen side is not but a bit of the rim. Queens Reign Maple is from 2022 so it either was toned on purpose or been exposed to something. I don't think I will remove the tone. I like bright clean silver mostly and clean any tarnish off using the aluminum foil and baking soda method. Personally I would not tone a silver coin but may tone a piece of Jewelry or something like that.

Do you have to use the refracting product on the insulation?

I've never seen silver look like that after pouring, why does it look like coal?

Environmental awareness, depending on what you are melting an enclosed area with a big ass carbon filter and fans would eliminate any toxic fumes.

Borax will destroy the crucibles life span FYI. Just heat them up red hot empty the first time then use them. People complicate simple things too much and cause more harm than good.
