Hey melt1052, I upgraded to a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 (amzn.to/40ZyJ6E) last year shortly after my disappointing footage from my old GoPro Hero 4. It was so shaky. I have a bigger camera set up but really didn't want to take it into a crowded area. This new "little" one is amazing and virtually replaces the bigger set up for most of my videos as it's so convenient. I WILL get to a review video some day soon but definitely check out others. It's a great little camera.

With the exchange rate being 40%+ I will not be going south anytime soon. I live year round in a 4 seasons truck camper in SW British Columbia. (Vancouver area) The winters are generally very mild compared to the rest of Canada. The extra cost for winter heating is basically nothing compared to the cost of going south. Plus at my age (76) I don't have to get extra health insurance for travel in the US. My sister is a nurse in southern California and she tells me not to come unless you have good health coverage which is not cheap otherwise you would have it. Looks glamorous to sit in the warm desert. But lets tell the whole truth.
@WayneontheroadАй бұрын
Hey Chuck, I laid it out the best I could. Definitely not glamourizing any of it. (I'm not sure how being honest about spending almost as much on a new fridge as I paid for the whole 1995 5th wheel is glamouring anything). Its the lifestyle I chose, it's not for everyone but I like it. I would also expect that most people would do their own research and figure out their costs (like you did) and make their own decisions on what works for them. This is just a simple starting example of what one can expect if in a similar situation as I. That's it.
@chucktheperson1063Ай бұрын
@@Wayneontheroad In my view, this type of vlog is glamorizing to many that want to escape. Your living expenses will be pretty much the same no matter where you park your rig if boondocking. You will save on heating cost because it's warmer that far south. What bothered me was not addressing the health coverage issue of Canadians going south. I'm pretty healthy for my age but would never cross the US/Canadian border without good out of country coverage. Accidents happen even if not your fault. Your fridge would look pretty cheap compared to having to be medevacked back to Canada. Agreed, do your research before going south.

Hey Wayne, Do you have a solar system for your trailer or do you use a generator for your computers and starlink? From Alberta also and plan on leaving for Quartzsite in January.
@WayneontheroadАй бұрын
Thanks for watching! I DO have a generator and try to use it as little as possible but depend mainly on Solar. I have 825 watts of solar and two lithium 230AH batteries. There are times more so in winter when even down here and the sun is low and the days shorter that I have to run the genny to top up once in awhile. This also depends on my work load and how much I'm running my iMac as it's my biggest draw. I do shut it down when I'm done for the day.
@melt1052Ай бұрын
@@Wayneontheroad Thanks for the information, we are looking at solar but haven't made the leap yet. Just been using a honda generator for everything.
@WayneontheroadАй бұрын
It can be very intimidating indeed. I started with solar and just kept building/evolving with my needs/knowledge. There's a lot of guys down here that are much more knowledgable then I (hence why I don't do solar videos, lol). They'd be ones to reach out to for direction on a build based on what you need, space you have for panels etc. Don't get duped into buying a "setup" from the Big Tent Show here in January as you'll most likely be overcharged. Get some knowledgeable help determining what you need, then source out the parts yourself and if needed find a knowledgeable guy to help with the install. There's not much to it all really, it's just the electrical math that is confusing for me and making sure you have what you need to do the job as expected.

First time seeing your channel. Its interesting to see it from a Canadian perspective with the exchange on the dollar. When you say 1051 dollars, is that just the fuel to get from Alberta to Quartzite or did you do much driving down there in the month? What kind of mileage do you get towing the trailer? I am guessing fuel there and back would be running around 2000 Canadian. I am also in Alberta but further north by close to a day so I guess my costs would be several hundred more. I dont think my class A would get much worse mileage than a pickup pulling a trailer. Glad to see your 30 year old trailer is holding up better than a lot of 3 year old trailers today.
