Thank you. I finally learned what my little chicken is called. She is white with a red cone and tiny black spots. Our local Tractor Supply had some left over chick's left in the storage that were offered to me when I purchased some RIR hens. I LOVE MY POPPY. SHE IS STRONG ,SMART, AND DOES WHAT SHE PLEASES. I raised her with four big hens, but she would separate herself every way that she could except at night she slept between them to stay warm.😊Thank you for your video .

I'll admit. I was extremely excited when I saw a tutorial posted on how to become a fairy, followed by immediate disappointment when I saw it was a tutorial for The Sims rather than real life. However, I gave the video a chance and decided to watch it all the way through and now I find myself debating on downloading the sims. Hot dog summoning grants an instant 10/10 from me.

I just got a small set of seramas. I've been wanting my own chickens for while now and these were available for 15$ each. I got three hens and one rooster. They are already grown up. Less than a year old. Maybe it's because I didn't raise them and they are in a new environment but they are very skiddish and flighty. I've never seen a chicken be able to fly like these. I had one get loose on me yesterday when opened the hutch door to feed them. They are very fast and agile. I thought I had lost one of my hens but it returned to the coop late evening and I got her back in. I'm a a newb when it comes to chickens. Will there behavior change as they adjust to the new environment or will they always be like this? Any tips or help on this matter would be appreciated. Thanks from East Tennessee.

When I saw 'Chicken cons' I took it as cons as in convicts, criminals. My chickens are in fact criminals that regularly do jailbreaks. During these horrible heatwaves ( it was 120° a few weeks ago) I lwas worried about their health and their panting made me sad so i set up a pen inside so they could have a/c overnight. The first night they flew out in the morning while we were sleeping, crapped all over the house, and ate all the cat food. So I covered the pen with a sheet. So then they pushed open the pen, crapped all over the house and ate all the cat food. So now they're covered, locked in, and secure. But just this morning, someone ( my husband) forgot to clip the pen shut and i was woken to the sound of metal dishes being flipped over in the kitchen. My chickens can not be imprisoned.

My least favorite part of owning chickens is when they get sick and I can’t save them. It devastates me every time I lose a bird. I have Guinea fowl too, and they are what I normally lose, but recently I’ve been losing chickens, and it breaks my heart because before May, I’ve never lost a chicken ever. And now I’ve lost six. One of them was a week old baby, so I’m not too bummed out about that because she didn’t have a personality that I could get attached to. Two others were about 3 weeks old and they got eaten by a snake. One was a barnyard mix and the other was an Ayam Cemani. And then two others that were maybe 7 weeks just dropped dead. They were both Ayam Cemani’s, and now I don’t have any more of them. And the most heartbreaking chicken death I’ve had was about three weeks ago while I was at a camp. My favorite chicken, a White crested black polish named Nyx, broke her neck while trying to fly up on top of her chicken coop. She was the most outgoing polish, and maybe just chicken, that I’ve ever had. She is the only one who would let me hold her without screaming, although she didn’t like being held, and she would fly up onto me if she was bored. Now my new favorite is polish is her sister Calypso. She flys up onto the coop (scares me every time because of Nyx) and makes me pet her belly/breast and she starts preening my hand. She refuses to let me hold her though. Although I do get what you are saying in this video. Every time my Barnevelder goes broody (she’s the only one that does go broody) I just give her chicks. This time she got eight silver laced Wyandottes because I got four one day and I came back to TSC like, two days later, and they have four left for one dollar. So I got them (one died) and she took them even though they were almost two weeks old. My roosters don’t shut up. I’m getting rid of my overly aggressive 9 pound rooster in a few days, but I have two polish roosters who can’t shush now. They started crowing last month or so, and they won’t be quiet. If you have read this far, great job. I’m a chatty person who is very unorganized in what she says 😂 so I’ll shush up now, unlike my two polish roosters.

I know how you feel. A few of my chickens died suddenly. We raised Thelma and Louise, two blue laced Wyandottes, and Thelma was the most handable chicken I ever had. One day she came up to me, I picked her up to say hello, put her down and didn't get but a few steps away when my husband started screaming. I ran back and there was Thelma, just dead. No sign of illness or injury. We were shocked. We found out that it's not uncommon for chickens to have heart attacks. No warning signs, just a heart attack and they're gone. The other ones we lost showed small signs of something wrong health wise, and then they were gone within hours of the first sign. You never know, so love your chickens the best you can every day

Personally my least favorite part of owning chickens is the constant feeling of being watched. Like, seriously, why they always staring at me like that? And why do they always hang around my WiFi router towards the end of the day?? I'm not saying anything, but something ain't right. Those chickens are up to something, I tell you!! It’s something deeper

White/blue coated Minorca is probably among best chickens for hot climate. They have massive wattles and combs as well as rather sparse feathering. Not ideal year-round set of traits here in Poland where winters are cold and humid, but they always thrive during hot summer when cold-adapted landrace chickens have to take a breather in shade.

When I was a kid my family would keep an assortment of chickens, many of them crested polish bantams. Crested chickens would always end up going to sleep in random bushes and dad would have to go retrieve them before the nightfall. Some of them were super skittish until they took a good look at you because their vision was so limited by the fancy crests. Good times.

I'm awaiting a shipment of a variety of chicks, including two Mottle Houdans pullets. I'm so excited! I have two Polish chickens (nearing maturity, one male, one female) and didn't realize that the ones we picked up as day-olds were bantams. The sign didn't mention standard or bantam. There are standard sized Polish chickens but they are apparently very hard to come by. I chose Houndans because I love the floofy crests on our Polish and wanted bigger floofy-headed chickens in my flock. hehe
