These things are actually really easy to use. I have one. And an OLD weller gun. And a soldering pecil. And a pencil type with a trigger-feed solder spool. And a really cool one that screws onto a small vape device.

Thanks for posting this! My grandparents had this model or one VERY similar to it when I was a little kid. They got rid of it in '05 when they switched to a flat-panel. ..and my granma burnt in the VS screen from Dr. Mario on it.

I have this console and the matching 6 mix stage monitor mixing console (both pristine). The monitor console came out of an old chruch, and the front of house console came from a retiring mariachi group. I also have a Mark III 16 channel, and the SRC 2400 24 channel mixers. I own a small sound company and have a lot of different mixers. Most folks want digital these days. I get to pull out the old Peaveys once in a while though. The SRC 2400 is a great utility console and still does its share of corporate events, and occasional bar gigs/street fests. I try to market my older gear to younger bands, and sell the whole vintage aspect. Ive got a lot of older PA stuff as well. All these mixers have definitely had a great return on investment. They all still make money!

So I took mine apart, had to do loads of corrosion abatement. Everything seems to be working other than having to change out the wires going to the battery contacts. Then I needed to figure out proper battery type and orientation. That's why I'm here... thanks ! Great. Mine only had the 30v square battery when I opened it up. I was confused about the upper battery position. Oh and mine had a really old cardboard and wax wrapped 30v battery. It was still pushing out 5v somehow despite all the corrosion. They don't make em like that anymore lol.

someone may have already replied, the 47uF is for the woofer, anything that high a number filters out all the high frequencies. I do not see the 1.5uF for the tweeter on that board, it may be hooked up in series with the tweeter. The 6.8uf is for the midrange. The knock on the CF100 was lack of midrange presence, it crosses over from the woofer at 1.4kHz. Some had success lowering the crossover, I would go 850-1000 Hz. But history shows that JBL did run woofers full range in the 4312 and other exceptional speaker designs.

I have the same amplifier. I was wondering if you could help me troubleshoot it. It is going into protection after I play it for a little bit. I'm an air conditioning technician so I have the meters and everything. There is a burnt component inside of it. I can't remember right now what it is but if you could help me I'd much appreciate it

I have the same stereo system. How do I activate the megabase? I don’t have a remote control for it. I live in Phoenix, Arizona and I bought this for seven dollars. And this stereo is super super loud and it’s got good weight to it. It has two cassette player on top and the CD player. It won’t read the disk. I have to clean the laser lens or needs to be replaced but this is super vintage stereo. How do I activate the megabits? That’s just all I need to know, thank you

The MOSFETs are putting out a lot of heat because the Class A mode is turned on. Turn that off and it should run cooler in Class AB.. the amp auto-switches to AB after about 10 watts with Class A mode on with the volume knob adjusted to reach the 10 watt state otherwise only use Class A mode when playing at lower volume levels.. but do not leave any class A on continuously when not in use.

Do you know much about these old wet Ni-Cd battery packs? I have several large banks that we came across, but I don't know if they can be reconditioned. They were originally used as back-up batteries in an early computer bank. Thanks!

Is this powered or unpowered? I might get one I found online, but I don't know anything about mixers. my band-mates got a powered pa system and a little mixer for the rest of the band, but I'm trying to mic my whole oversized 11 piece kit in my own mixer that I can then run to theirs.

Hi great video I bought ine HK800+ two HK1000 casette decks and 4 AR7 speakers in 1979, great but expensive stuff then. about Marcon capacitors: It is a japanese brand established by Toshiba in 1942, it was bought by NCC (Nippon Chemi Con) in 1995, that means that all Marcon capacitors are now older than 28 years, and even good capacitors deteriorate in 25 years (I have some Sprague,Sangamo, Cornell Dubilier, GE and Siemens computer grade capacitors (from Sperry and Univac computers) or 3inch diameter made in 1970, but still filling their specifications)

Yeah that colorful capacitor is called "tropical fish" they are made of silver mica and are really awesome in vintage guitar FX pedals. I would suggest making a bank of 9v square batteries to get up close to 30v.

Unscrew the four screws on the top, attached to the two plates, on either side of the handle. Unscrew the two screws on the rear lip of the amp plate. I myself, for extra measure, took off the top two rear corner protectors, and removed the handle as well. The transformer is flush, so technically, it should slide right out but there are a few bolt heads that are exposed on the top plate of the assembly. Pulling from the back of the amp, lean it ever so slightly down as you're dragging it back, as the bolt heads will likely drag across the top of the wood and tolex just a touch. Should slide right out.

Yours looks critically different from mine in some interior details, but identical on the outside. Any trace of a date code? My ferite core broke loose in shipping bc the brackets were completely brittle. Clear like yours. The antenna leads are way hokey - yours look renewed - i'd say the brackets and antenna leads at least up to the core and the yellow wraps on yours were replaced. Also my speaker looks new and yours looks like it's been in a fire. The other parts look the same. Did you solve the sound issue? Just from appearances it looks like your speaker is pretty clearly the failure point.

Very late, but this is what’s known as “Shortwave Radiogram”, it’s basically a digital mode (I think MPSK?) that’s used to transmit news text and images over the airwaves. It has it’s own programme from WRMI in Florida I think on some days in the week :) Hope this cleared up the mystery over 6 years later :)

Great board, picked up one recently in almost new condition, very low noise as others have mentioned. The built-in spring reverb sounds really good, better than the other tanks I've got, thick and splashy, the reverb input gain and output mix allow for a lot of options. The high shelf EQ sounds particularly good.

Well I'm 5 years late but what the hell: ARS was an early attempt at what would later become known as Surround Sound. It's been decades since I read the manual but I believe it stood for Ambient Retrieval System or something like that. They used phasing between the L and R channels (something like 2L-R + 2R-L if I recall correctly) to in effect create a rear channel and it was your rear speakers that this phased output was delivered to. I have owned an S-7910 since the 80's and it still sounds great! Set it up with four speakers (two front and two back) and put it in ARS mode and listen to Dark Side of the Moon on vinyl or an early CD release and you'll hear what I'm talking about.
