Great review! CC is easily one of the best shooters I've ever played. I recently secured my Arcade Original 1cc and did a guide on that particular node since it's an incredibly intimidating game for many people. But with a breakdown, it becomes much more manageable. Thanks for sharing!

Great seeing this! I actually haven't jumped in since my main grind a few years back but seeing the incredible background art, and enemy designs have me wanting to get back to this. Especially because at the time of securing my hard mode 1cc I wasn't in the habit of recording my runs so I still want to do that. Thanks for the vid!

Grandia Xtreme is not as good as Grandia II, but does have a similar look in terms of sprites. I have gotten a lot of fun out of GX over the years. It is a more grind based Cave explorer than the other games. I still consider it to be better than G3, with a better more rounded roster of characters, but the story is not much to write home about. Thanks for the comment!

I love Grandia Xtreme. I’m only now playing it because back in the day it was never released in Europe. I just beat the iconic first 2 games again and just decided to emulate Xtreme since there is no other way for me to experience it. I’ve played for 20 hours. If you love the battle system and dungeons of the first two games you’ll love them here too. The downside is the voice acting in this one, Mark Hamill actually does one of them and he does a great job but many others sound like non actors, like how many regular people read lines. But I still like the story and most of the dialogue you just read anyway. The music is as great as always. It’s more of a dungeon crawler this one, the draw is the dungeon exploration and battle system. The dungeons though are an evolution from the first two games, nice puzzles and traps and stuff. A bit like Zelda dungeons. There’s only one main town this time. 20 years ago hearing this stuff worried me a little but I still badly wanted the game because Grandia and Persona are my two favorite JRPG franchises. But now finally playing it, it didn’t take me long at all to fall in love with Grandia Xtreme. I’m playing it on my MacBook and feeling grateful after all these years that I’m finally playing it! It’s a spin off game. It’s not quite the epic adventure the first two games were. But there is still a ton of dialogue and there is a story. I’m 20 hours in, I don’t have an opinion on the story yet. But I like the characters, the bad voice acting I find hilarious 😸 the voice acting in the first two games was a lot better. But it’s still a Grandia game at heart completely. The combat is arguably even better than ever. It’s the same basically as Grandia II but evolved slightly and somehow I find it to be even more fun than ever. I can’t say why that is. So gameplay, amazing, music, amazing, dungeons, awesome, voice acting 🎭 very bad but some characters decent, Mark Hamill good, story is fine. If you’re a huge Grandia fan you’re gonna love it. I think it’s especially for the hardcore Grandia fans. Enough of what we love about Grandia is all there and familiar. But it is a spin off entry. I played a bit of Grandia III also finally and people say that one is great. But I’ll stick to Grandia Xtreme first because it feels more like Grandia, more familiar more nostalgic. Grandia III has a bit of a Square Enix vibe which is fine. I’m sure I’ll love it, and clearly had a bigger budget. These are bucket list games for me to beat. Amazing to finally get to play them. I wish they could do a Grandia 4, I’d be happy even if they just did a 4 with the same Dreamcast engine they used for 2. But sadly Game Arts hasn’t been active for years. I’m grateful that they did give us the HD remasters, got that for Switch. Grandia is a very special series. Nothing quite like it. And Grandia Xtreme is still a Grandia game. I recommend trying it. I might still get myself an American PS2 or a Japanese one just two have a physical copy I could play on my CRT. I still play my real PS2. It’s still magical on a crt. Would be cool to beat Grandia Xtreme a second time but in Japanese with the better voices haha.

@@slyelessaryeah Grandia Xtreme is still great for the combat and dungeons. Love the familiar look and the music is also just as great as ever. The dungeons and battles are addictive as always. So it’s still a great time. Not an epic adventure story like the first two but still a Grandia game at heart and still has great characters and a lot of dialogue. My only real gripe is the voice acting. But the dungeons and dungeon puzzles I think are better than ever. And the battle system is just as amazing as ever if not even a touch better. And the story is fine. It’s just that for me the first two games were such masterpieces in every way. But Grandia Xtreme is still magical for any huge Grandia fan.

The voice acting and the story IN xtreme are the weakest parts. The game was clearly built around the battle system. And that's okay, like everyone's saying its a great battle system. As spin offs go, it's a good one. Grandia 3 was the biggest let down. But it's still playable, even though it is a further stones throw from what made the series great. The battle system is similar but the menus and options designs aren't as good. The characters are weaker and more generic than in any other part of the series. It took what made the series unique and threw it away, keeping a similar battle system.

Once again, enjoyed your video. I've downloaded the basic Capcom Arcade Stadium issue from the NSW eShop, and played the freebie, 1943-Battle of Midway; not the packages. Does this video, reflect an endorsement of pkg#3 over pkgs #1 and #2?

Hi John, thank you for your comment. I have since bought the second package - originally just getting the third. Specifically for Shooters, for me, the third one offers more with 1944 the loop master, Progear (vid out next week), and giga wing being the highlights. The second package is OK, but doesn't have anything that is calling me back quite in the same way as 1944TLM and Progear do.Let us know what you decide on!

Hi John, thank you for the comment and support. I ordered from strictly limited games in Jan, and received an e-mail from them in March saying they were looking at shipping in March/ April. The website link now states May/June. So that would be six months after pre-ordering the game if it arrives in June. I had to e-mail them to find this information out, and now the shipping updates are on the site for the game, I keep an eye on that. Hope this helps. - Sly.
