seriously, why do you have to make everything so complicated. just to make a 2 story house, your telling me I have to dive into the program, navigate through 4 different option windows, specify values, and then i can start to create?? As architects our struggle in terms of workflow is the amount of time it takes to achieve the end result. we need to be able to maximize all of our time as much as possible with simplified options. almost every program i have used requires a few clicks, if any, to achieve what i would have to in vectorworks with 15 clicks... moving a wall in vectorworks is incredibly involved, so much so that I get frustrated and end up deleting it all together and redrawing. I really shouldnt have to tell vectorworks i need This wall to connect to that wall.. or drag it into one another until it finally joins with a tool. thats taking it to a whole other level that is just annoying.

Thought I was one of that opinion, Vectorworks is killing the urge to use this software,I think this is one of the reasons why it is not popular amount of work that needs to be put in exceeds common sense.

A really well-explained process, thanks for the video. Can you import textures and edit them too? Also, can the shader be generated as a code that you can use in games? example: i.imgur.com/FdfZeBR.png

Thanks for creating the video...but...um....I couldn't connect the actions with the results because we stayed in the top view throughout the explanation. By the time we got to see the 3D view - which didn't rotate around enough to really see what was going on - the many actions leading to the many results were too hard to remember and connect with each other.

I am trying to use taper face on a simple orthogonal shape, the sides are 6" x 6" x 1/32" On the 1/32" it does not work. I am experimenting and even when I make it much bigger, 3", it still does not work. It is like the tool does not work on the small side of an object... Is this possible? I am working with VW 2016, Mac, Yosemite v.10.10.4

There's a few different questions wrapped up in your comment, and probably more than I can really do justice in the Comments field on KZbin. But at the heart of it all is your comment (made here and in other videos we've put up), about the section viewport and direct editing of it. By design, in Vectorworks you don't edit inside a section viewport. Conceptually, sheet layers are the presentation space, and design layers are the modelling space. It can be set up so that it's as quick as a double-click to go from that viewport to the same view in the model. And once in the model proper, the options for doing the next task after that one are greater than if I was in looking through the "tunnel" that is a cropped viewport. I'm not sure what you meant by "you go to opengl or line render mode and the section seems to disappear" though, since wall and slab components do show up in those rendering modes.

Scheven, sure, you can copy and paste walls from one storey to another. The pasted walls will automatically take on their correct Z value in the building and if properly configured, will also adjust their heights to the value assigned to that storey.
@vectorworkscanadainc.989510 жыл бұрын
Section viewports (and anything to do with sheet layers) are for putting together a sheet, not editing. You go back to the model to edit and change walls. One quick way to do that is to double-click on the Section Viewport, then choose to return to the design layers, and see that the choice to Display with Clip Cube is selected. This gives you a section view in OpenGL with the same cut plane as the viewport.
