Wow!! This has been very informative. Good to know that these thyroid issues can be managed. Eat well, exercise or walk often, be mindful of changes in your body and screen often. These are my take aways from the podcast. Thank you SYNLAB for bringing Prof Fasanmade and Dr Okunowo to do justice to this topic and thank you Patsy for asking all I was curious to know 🎉🎉👏👏

Learning of relationship between food, iodine and Thyroid health is very interesting. I never really knew why our salts are iodine salts till today. This is very very interesting and insightful. Thank you to our wonderful doctors 👍👍

I feel like I am just learning of the Thyroid gland and it’s functions. It makes more sense the way it was broken down by Prof Fasanmade. Can’t believe that restlessness could be associated to a disorder like of the gland. Very insightful 👍👍👏

SYNLAB is synonyms with Excellence! During my years as a Medical Laboratory Scientist student in UNN and onwards to my mandatory 1 year internship training as an intern Medical Laboratory Scientist in UNTH, it was a dream of mine/one major life goal to work with SYNLAB (formerly Pathcare Laboratories) which was known by majority of the Medical staff and students alike as the best medical diagnostic pathology laboratory in Nigeria with the highest quality standards. I didn't learn of the organisation from any media advertising but from word of mouth, because every doctor who needed accurate test results or wanted to perform one specialized test or another would recommend that the patient go to Pathcare -now SYNLAB to perform the test, and they had 100% confidence in the test results. They depended on their test results to make major life-saving decisions in diagnosis and treatment of their patients. This was part of the reasons why I wanted to be a part of this organisation which is the best pathology laboratory, to work as a scientist and to learn about quality , ISO standards, laboratory automation, how to use automated analysers to assay tests (not the manual equipments/techniques which were then the staple in majority of laboratories), to learn the latest techniques, methodology, tests and in general just develop myself as a practising scientist. This dream of mine came true in 2017 when I joined the organisation. With trainings that one can't have in any other organisation in this country, and all without the usual expected years of experience on the job that other organisations usually request. It is an organisation that is a training ground for fresh graduates who are given a chance to unlearn, learn, relearn, grow and build up years of invaluable experience. It gave me a better worldview, broadened my horizon and grew my knowledge. With opportunities for career growth and even total change of career paths, equipping staff to function in roles different from their initial course of study or profession and entry position by promoting personal development and capacity building to create professionals trained and equipped to function at any level in the organisation. It has been an amazing experience with Synlab Nigeria. I'm grateful and proud to be a part of the team. Quality is our watchword; integrity and excellence is our way of life! Happy 20th Anniversary SYNLAB!!! 🎉❤

I can’t help but smile while watching this. As a student in LUTH, I remembered the first time I stepped into SYNLAB (then Pathcare), I just knew that’s a place to be. I am so proud to be a staff of this beautiful organization where I know that I am highly valued and empowered. The journey like we have seen did not start today and I am happy to see that it has only improved over the years without being diluted. A big thank you to SYNLAB Nigeria for the bringing quality and excellent service to healthcare and humanity at large. congratulations 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤

Knowing family history would help in understanding predisposition to certain medical conditions. Like Dr Habeeb has emphasized, screening is important so treatment can start early. It’s not by what you don’t know cannot kill you, because really it can. We should all know that we are responsible for the quality of life we want to live and it’s our duty to self to see that we try to live a good and healthy life. This has been very enlightening and I look forward to seeing Dr Habeeb here again and the next SYNLAB Podcast ❤❤❤

It’s good to know that the tests required are readily available here in Nigeria. I also like how our doctors emphasized that what ever issues found can be tackled with different options. The key takeaway is screen early to detect early. Well done 👍👍

While all these may sound scary, for me I believe the key takeaway is to ensure that we focus on our general wellbeing. And go for a check regulary at least. This is not a thing of what you don't know cannot kill you but rather what you need to know now and resolve now. Our Doctors did not come to play at all and kudos to Uchenna.

For the healing part, somebody said To err is human😃... Ah! After it ended in premium tears?! 😁. For me, healing from paternity fraud involves allowing yourself to feel your emotions, seeking professional help, and building a support system. Set boundaries with those involved, focus on self-care, and educate yourself about the issue. Legal consultation might be necessary. Over time, work on reframing your experience positively, take things one day at a time, and consider the child’s perspective if a bond has been formed. Healing is a personal and gradual process.
@UchennaAmadi-wg4js5 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot Patsy... My key takeaway is that obtaining a paternity test, involves ensuring proper consent, following legal procedures, and using accredited labs to ensure the results are admissible and legally binding. It’s often advisable to consult with a legal professional to navigate the specific requirements of the jurisdiction involved.

Quite educative... The pre-analytical processes are critical because errors or mishandling at this stage can lead to inaccurate or inconclusive results, even if the subsequent DNA analysis is performed perfectly. High-quality pre-analytics ensure that the DNA analysis is based on reliable, uncontaminated, and well-preserved samples, ultimately leading to more accurate and trustworthy outcomes in genetic testing.
