I don't expect folks to watch all of a video like this. I would love to be able to edit it into a reasonable length. Unfortunately I don't have the time for deep edits if I want to release daily. Any time 2 players cooperate the 3rd player is in series danger. That's what happened to black.

Ooh i mistyped, I meant orange. They seemed to have a big advantage, ypu navigated that well!

I have to give leechalittle a lot of credit for that. He called that the bottom cap had so many cap cards that it was effectively impossible to block me. so orange would be required to hard stack to block. That allowed me to hit large off cap stacks or set up the thumbnail scenario.

I enjoy seeing lots of play styles. It's one of the things I enjoy about risk. I love trying to understand my opponent's priorities and use that knowledge to my advantage

I've discovered what it is. There is a bug in windows that effects OBS when capturing sound using a certain methodology. The newest windows update seems to fix it. I'm hoping I'll get it soon. It seems to hit ~30 minutes into recordings. Thanks for identifying it.

LOL. Every map has a noob corner or a honeypot. Great question though. Ill try to go back and look through my game log to see who capped where and in what order. Definitely would have been funny to see that happen through the fog.

Yellow went first and capped in Laconia (the outermost cap). White went second and capped in Chania (the innermost cap) Red went third and capped in Kythira (the middle cap). So, red was the troll.

Of course, not skipping without bonuses isn't much better. It really comes down to whether someone has lines on you and unfortunately they did.

I think this is a good map. Definitely requires some learning though.

I was in danger of getting 2v1ed by red and black. I needed to get the attention to be taken off of me. Once black botted it wasn't worth the effort and it forced red and blue into each other.

Yeah. This was season 17. Getting that rank while playing through these maps was incredible.

The unfortunate side effect of playing to win is that some games go longer. The other option is to churn games playing only snowball stats. But doing that kills your win rate.

Haha. I have commands in stream to update the progress counters so when someone joins they can type !allcaps and see the status. I had just created the commands for this challenge and when I went to use them for the first time they didn't work.

Videos like this are not everyone but this is some of the most intense high level play I've been a part of.

The goal is to play the worse caps as soon as i can since I know it may take a few tries.

Also I have won from many bad cap positions before but I will pay them again as part of the challenge. The game has to be initiated a part of the challenge to count.

@@Puddle_Jam of course but it’s quite likely a few territories end up being left quite late just because of how bad they are. Anything in orient (the Syrias and what not) get wrecked quite easily by blizzards or other caps in Istanbul or Georgia/S Russia for example. Means there’s a decent chance you’re going to be left in the worlds worst caps

@@Puddle_Jamya definitely possible, when I first learned about card blocking I didn’t really understand that is was about the outter sphere so I really liked all the territories that touched a lot like Iraq and the W African ones. You’ll 100% do the challenge, just will be some fun games

So I'm 30ish games into the challenge at this point. Without spoiling it for you the orient games are some of the best. You won't want to miss them.

I understand your point. I think the biggest critique of myself is removing the kill guard at the top. I was definitely (over) confident in my position and didn't really worry about red being able to survive. Also I wanted to make sure red got 2nd as he worked with me the whole game.

Great question. In progressive capitals the greatest risk is being blocked and unable to get a card. Since my capital was in Australia the extra 2 troops I would get are not worth being blocked in the long run. There is also a psychological disadvantage that opponents will often team up on the player they think is stronger, even if only slightly.

I record the game"s memory using a tool I built. The data is collected in an unreadable raw form so that I don't have access to it during the game giving me an advantage. After the game I use a second tool to parse the raw data into a spreadsheet that has everything broken down in detail. A third tool takes that data and turns it into a graphical chart. I like to look at these charts to better understand the game.

@@Puddle_Jam That sounds like a great toolset, but I fear making that public would lead to more cheaters.

If I were to ever provide it to others I would only provide the first tool which would upload the raw data to a website where the second tool would verify the game is over and then provide the data to discourage cheating. Fair play is very important to me.

That series is starting 10/12 with a daily release schedule. I'm really excited for it.

If I don't go for the pink kill and just hold the cap. 1 of 2 things happen. A) black starts fighting me B) black waits until I kill pink If black waits I win easily. If black attacks I have to try to kill pink immediately to get the Honeypot. I went straight to let's kill pink in my logic but chose poorly on my pathing. Also. I needed to hold both caps in order to win or I was still very blockable with black's gen.

@@Puddle_Jam I understand. But you split wrong. Pink obviously had more troops than the 40 you saw. The 80 troops you split should have gone to the right (cap).

During some streams we will analyze the graph to understand what was happening throughout the game. I find it very helpful for understanding what was happening in the fog.

I built a tool that records the game's memory state. I originally started doing this in response to a hacker. I don't have access to any of this info during the game, so I don't know if someone is cheating during the game. Afterwards, I run another tool to analyze the memory dump and generate the "stats". It's basically a spreadsheet of who owns what territory and how many troops they have on it. I just turn into a chart for better visual display

@@Puddle_Jam Cool tool, but I would also be wary that you have created something that is a cheat/hack. As you say, you don't have access to it during the game, but the proof of concept is there to have it during the game where you would essentially be playing without fog. Something you may want to alert SMG there is a potential in the game for this as a hack.

I have been in contact with smg regarding the use of the tool. We have discussed it and the response has been as long as it doesn't alter the game in any way and doesn't give me an advantage in the game they are not going to prohibit it. This will all become a moot point once the network update is released. (Hopefully soon). I stream 100% of my games and I try to be completely transparent about what I'm doing and what I'm not doing. The data being collected is not usable in real time. It's only after the game that I have access to parse it. One of my soap boxes I get on is the importance of fair play. Everyone has the choice to play fair even if cheating is possible. I have the capability to cheat (as does almost everyone) and choose not to. Risk has an amazing community of players and a joint commitment to fair play goes a long way in keeping it strong. The occasional troll (like yellow in the video) is a minor nuisance in the big scheme of things.

it's in the fog at 13:36 you can see it in the stats at 56:17 He actually did it 2 other times but I didn't highlight those times.

Definitely troops added. At 41:11 you see some of the Scotland troops still there. The whole point of the hidden stacks is to be able to fortify out extra troops when they're needed.

At 16:40 yellow gets 21 troops and a 4 trade, but attacks with a 45 stack. Where did those extra 20 troops come from?

I'd have to go look at the spreadsheet to verify but I think yellow opened up a hidden stack.

The setting you want is called, "Balanced Blitz". The other option is "True Random". In True Random there is never a 100% roll. 99% is the best you can get. In Balanced Blitz the most extreme rolls are removed, allowing 100% rolls, like 4v1, 7v3, 9v4, etc. Both setting are very common, but I tend to only play Balanced Blitz.

Counterpoint. I had 2 bad caps. Both easily blockable. Keeping orange behind built an early alliance. It worked well when black originally botted. Removing him when my position expanded could have been a better play. Thanks for the feedback.

I use a tool similar to what the hackers use to cheat. But instead of cheating I dump the raw memory of the game to a file. I intentionally do it in a way that I cannot see it during the game so I don't have any advantage. After the game I parse this raw data and dump it into a spreadsheet so that I can graph it. I will double check to see if orange was cheating but I don't think he was. I was hitting a lot of stacks and I think he was getting cheap cards and generating a lot more than me.

I double checked the logs. This was 100% a fair game. No extra troops were added.

Btw, the video coming out on October 6th has a hacker in it who adds troops into the fog. make sure to check it out when it comes out.

Thanks for the feedback. Pink feeding the kill to me still makes me laugh. I agree that the world dom was unnecessary. I typically don't world dom when an opponent surrenders. I may have been a little salty that night. Cheers.

I really appreciate the feedback. I have 0 youtube experience (obviously). These videos were not recorded with KZbin in mind so I have no in-game intro at the start. I don't want to abruptly start with no context at all. Is it just the intro song/profile pic you find off-putting or also the intro screen with generic introduction with the settings and player bios or both? I'm glad you're enjoying the actual content as that is what really matters to me.

@@Puddle_Jam For me its the black screen with your profile pic jammin around. If you want a good idea for an intro I would highly suggest watching how "Kill Pete Strategy" does his. Kinda like how you would start a speech for school or work

@@Puddle_Jam Like if you were to start with the "all videos are streamed..." part, the opening would flow alot better.

So pete records that intro as part of the video at the start of the game. These videos are twitch vods from April. I feel like I need something added at the start to introduce the videos.

Thanks for the feedback. Yellow did not like me having the 2 caps that controlled the end game. I did everything I could to remain on good terms with him. I felt the Russia cap was unimportant at that stage of the game. I was hoping it would cause yellow to take more troops off the middle cap to defend it.

These settings can definitely stalemate. There are multiple strategies to try to prevent it but even then it can still happen.

Blue was a master level player. I really believe he was so fixated on the pink kill that he wasn't paying attention to my kill being fed to him. I agree about how fun it is to come back from the brink of death. Never give up, folks!

There are bad players that do crazy stuff. That's not what happened here. Blue makes no attempt to win. He only looks to weaken others to feed them. This is clasic alt account play. I'm very honest about my shortcomings in play and very rarely accuse others of cheating. But this is pretty obvious in my opinion. Feel free to debate otherwise.

You are allowed to form in game alliances. You are not allowed to play with people you know or play as 2 players. In this game the blue player was not playing to win but to feed the game to yellow.

I had no idea I was making this noise until I started editing these videos. I wish I had the time and ability to edit it out but it is what it is. These recordings are from April so it'll still pop up in newer videos. I've become more intentional to catch myself on stream for the last few months to break the habit. Thanks for your support.

I had built some tools to help protect against cheaters but realized I could use them to record the raw game data. I do this in a responsible way that doesn't give me any advantage during the game. Afterwards I can run analytics on the raw data and generate these stats. Personally I've learned a lot from looking at them to get a better understating of my relative troop size. Hopefully the viewers can gain insights too from them.

@@sirdeakia That was the original plan. However, black started placing troops into Africa. There was no place to hold an exterior. And, yellow was able to outgen me from the start. All of these things combined forced me to adapt. You have to play the hand you were dealt.

Great question. Pink capped inside Spain. Even though his cap guarded the bonus it didn't guarantee protection. So he either had to hope he doesn't get broken or he has to guard inside the bonus or outside on gascony. You have to always assume caps on or near London. At this point it's only a matter of time until he dies or is blocked. The proof is how quickly he died.
