I havent watch the entire video but if this is the Baguio earthquake: I put together a musical gig up in San Francisco, USA together with our organization called Westbay on Mission district. As a volunteer to this coalition in addition to my day job on Jessie street. We donated the proceeds to this disaster, picked up couple of boxes in UC Berkeley containing medicines, canned food, blankets etc and shipped it to the philippine..

It would've been hilarious if Sen. Read's dad picked up few more habits of Filipinos, like picking up stuff from the floor/ground using their feet/toes or pointing a direction using their mouth. 🤣🤣🤣

Ok the school shown here where teachers were dancing is actually the school I went to and it is so trippy how little has changed when I went there around 2008. I can't wrap my head around the fact that the Dude is narrating in full American tone and a song in my dialectnis being played. Everything about this feels surreal.

The Philippines offers many minerals that probably could be used for computer chips Biden wants USA to start producing. I pray American Philippine relations continue to be strong and hopefully USA can turn to the labor of Philippines (instead of China) to produce consumer goods for USA, since the Filipino worker is known for his or her strong work ethic. And instead of exporting this labor, I’d like to see this labor be used to replace American reliance on Chinese manufacturing. Clark City or new Clark City can certainly be planned to provide such manufacturing hubs and can draw many unskilled people that are crammed in other areas in Manila can find prosperity and strengthen all around growth through its close ties to USA. This benefits USA in that it ensures a strong ally in east asia that can not only provide military support in the event that China continues to expand influence in region but also provides replacement for any lost economic endeavors if Taiwan would be annexed. The Philippines has a strong navy that’s ranked in the top 10 of entire world which makes it formidable in event Chinese continue to make gains in ocean regions there and with cooperation with American military, certainly the newfound investments in industry would be secure. It’s very different from when Philippines was attacked and conquered by Japan in 1940s and the size of Philippine navy shows that concerns of this have been considered and remediated. Despite the hardships of that time, it not only showed the American commitment to this land by returning and liberating it from Japanese (as opposed to Formosa/Taiwan), but also created a more united national identity as opposed to regional separatism which was reason USA were not forced out by Filipinos after Spanish American war. The Filipinos wouldn’t unite as a nation to force USA out in early 1900s but after the Second World War, the Philippine Commonwealth was granted independence because of the tenacity it showed to stay faithful to God, and maintain its democracy instead of falling for Japanese militaristic authoritarian nationalistic type government. Mistakes have been made by USA in past and the Philippines has had corruption taint the democratic way, however American culture is evident to have made its impact there and thus the USA should look to them with fond respect just as UK has viewed USA. That being said, the final most important reason this nation should become the center of Far East interests and maybe even center of future investment by American business is the widespread understanding and ability to communicate in English….. English! And so much so that president Marcos makes inaugural address in… English! No other Asian nation that American had major economic interests in (Japan, South Korea, even the former South Vietnam) uses English as much as Filipinos do. I’d even compare it and say that Philippines utilizes English more that India and its many years of British rule and influence. This language creates a common understanding that no other country like Japan or Taiwan could compare because common people beyond the political scene can interact with common understanding. This especially is good for younger generations who are able to interact and utilize the vast resources that the internet provides in English language. English itself makes a great common language for the 7000+ islands. Tagalog, though is most logical choice for de facto language, is only truly native to Luzon and isn’t mutually intelligible to many Filipino dialects which in many cases can be classified as different languages and in a way brings back some of that old sectionalism of the past. Perhaps, English could represent the Philippines just as well. This is so due to fact its democracy was based off another English speaking non-European country, hint hint USA, and the struggle both against and together with shaped the creation of an independent united Philippines. And today this has given a widespread availability of information via technology that is offered in English thus it has use far beyond the area in which Tagalog is native. It would also be my hope that with English as its main language, the Tagalog language won’t corrupt the local dialects and languages that are prized to Filipinos that are not from Luzon and thus preserve cultural heritage on other islands. That will be good for national identity but also can be good for things like tourism which with USA can be expanded to point of world renowned. We all know the islands are a tropical paradise wonderland and like how tourism made Hawaii grow and modernize, so that can be done in Philippines. Along with the economic expansion investment and the open reception to business lost by possible Chinese expansion in Taiwan and maybe even now with Hong Kong, the Philippines has potential to reach the economic level of Japan and South Korea which benefited from strong relations with USA. It’s sad Americans overlooked their former “little brother” for other nations in region for investment but my great hope is that its Philippines turn to rise and since it’s so well deserved by the faith and good nature of its people has potential to surpass all nations once developed as first world nation and also can save USA in economic strength globally by supplementing their reliance on Chinese goods with a country it has deeper connections historically than just capital interests. An alliance that has mutual understandings and that connection can especially seen militarily through history and because of similar concerns in regions can continue to make historical progress in future. Thank you to anyone who was able to read to this point without disregarding my point. Please if you agree, contact your local representative to government and ask them to spread the word and surely to all Americans, one should visit the Philippines and experience the warmth of these people.
