I remember having a lot of shame and guilt when starting to set boundaries. I like that mindfulness book called 30 Days to Overcome Guilt by Harper Daniels.

I hope I am on track. Please reply and let me know. I love this program, but I truly believe it’s always been a spiritual program from the get-go. I don’t think any human power could accomplished what it’s accomplished. Looking forward to hearing back from you. Iron sharpens iron thank you, be blessed and let us serve our master or our Director and carrying the message to whoever to the Sloss and dry eyed world

I think what you’re trying to say is Dr. Bob’s prescription trust God, clean house help others or we are justified we are sanctified and then we come glorified what the one in the middle sanctification is our cleaning house and by faith it makes it possible for us to walk in the spirit

What about the Book Dr. Bob the old Timmers. Or some of the books that Dick B had written. Les of us and more of HIM. And we take the most important step by repentance doing a 180 turn, and we trust in God rather than our finite self, and not in our reasoning and ourselves justification because the deal is we were born without that’s why we need to be born within reborn is the book says a new clean slate in the old testament, God tells us he will defeat death. and in the New Testament explains how to do it. It’s called the good news the gospel.

So as I hear you speak, are you talking about taking them through the blue book that Dick B Steve, Foreman, and others put together for going to the steps in one day is this the program you’re talking about?

Actually that whole notion the first 100 members of both Akron and New York were all instrumental in writing the Big Book is nonsense. Akron Alcoholic Oxford group members wanted nothing to do with writing a book and were obstructionists about it. Bill Wilson ever the politician minded just gave them credit for it even though they didn't do anything. He finally got a few stories from them to put in the book but that was only after he had it written with no help from them. Including Dr. Bob. Bill did send Bob updates on the progress of the book but Bob offered no insights or suggestions because he wanted to keep things religious like good Akron Oxford group alcoholics were expected to do at his direction. Clarence Snyder as anyone around Alcoholics Anonymous for very long knows he was no fan of Bill Wilson. But he was smart enough to know AA had to get out of The Oxford Group long before Bob was ever willing to do it. Also to Clarence credit he came around early to see a book would be helpful and needed. His Cleveland Group was the first to use The Big Book to sponsor people by. Clarence had lots of rough edges and was wrong very often like he was in his opposition to the 12 Traditions but he was a strong early champion of A A. He really was instrumental in getting it out of The Oxford Group out in the Midwest and establishing a strong support of the program of recovery found in The Big Book Alcoholics Anonymous. Even if he had issues with Bill Wilson. Which isn't to say Bill Wilson was the one in the wrong. Just that Clarence felt that way. And you know how wrong Alcoholics and their feelings can often be.

Alyssa talked about not being happy every day and if she gets happiness one day that’s a plus rather than the way her life used to be. I don’t think happiness is the issue because happiness depends on happenings around you and the promises say it won’t be about emotions it’ll be about inner joy, no matter what happens. It’s a win-win situation. The apostle Paul said I know how to abass the and I know how to abound.

Ive always found it easy to explain to those who are addicted to "recovery" that i have recovered from Alcoholism (A hopeless state of mind and body). Which means my life is not hopeless. I do not suffer cravings and mental obsessions. I dont delude myself that i can drink normally. Previously in my life, the rational explanation for my circumstances was because i suffered from alcoholism. I would lie , cheat and steal because I had no POWER to be different. Today... If i lie to you its because im a liar. LOL

I agree absolutely this is where the rubber meets the road did these meetings back in 2004 I think and got to see got to hear and got to feel how the original program was applied. What an eye-opener I was ready to bail out aa. And then thank God I got to be around like-minded people who read the literature who do the literature who follow the basic text and to meet so many great like-minded people that understand how this program supposed to be so thank you let’s keep AA purre Ave old school AA from Abby to Bill to Dr. Bob to build Dotson. We got a carry the message and keep it pur aa

I have never liked nepotistic organizations in the recovery space. Truly altruistic care cannot alongside capitalist fueled nepotism. A major reason why addiction is such a grim prospect is because the system is filled with these fly-by-night "family-run" operations, who claim to be advocates but are actually just in it to cut themselves and their family checks. Allowed oversight like this is why you don't see organizations actually bringing down the rate of relapses since the 90's, because they butter their bread on their clients' relapses and would rather they come back than get healthy and well adjusted. If this "continuum" has any associations with the legal system, I guarantee you this family has made deals with their local courts that would make your stomach turn.

On May 12th 2022 I achieved 50 wonderful continuous sobriety. I had the honor and privilege of meeting this wonderful man. He took my mentor through the steps in 1959 and my mentor took me through the steps in June of 1972. In taking these steps except in April 2003 for 3 days when my wife died I was sober but in a bad place. I haven't had a bad day in alcoholics anonymous. Although I have had bad moments, but not bad days. It's a shame we don't have men or women like Mr Snyder anymore

Your an inspiration. I am 41 days sober, and been going to meetings for the last 4 weeks daily. I can't believe how much AA has helped me so far.. after 29 years of booze and chemicals, I know I got a LONG way to go.. 1 day at a time....I am very green to AA, no sponsor yet. Just doing meetings
