Darn. I found a new one for 60 but it’s partially serrated so I figured I’d offer you the same for the plain edge of you still had it. You have any other FRN Spydercos you want to get rid of? Happy new year.

My burl had a bit of gapping. Perhaps shrinkage due to humidity or similar. Love the design and the burl is cool, but didnt expect to see as much gapping at the price point. I understand that natural materials yield variance though too.

Logan, to me the wood was really dry when I got mine. (Number 1 retail buyer in their shop 😂) I took it straight home and soaked that burl in orange beeswax oil twice and it soaked it all up both times. It darkened the wood about 5 shades and really brought out my gnarly pattern. So far no issues with shrinkage or warping. I really enjoy mine.

I was interested in one, but i passed because it just looks modern. If they come out with a whittler or a stockman im jumping on it.

I like watching your videos because I appreciate that you discuss the history and minutia of knife patterns, such as the Barlow. In fact, when you did the video on the newest iteration of the Big Bro Jack, I ended up buying one to replace the previous version of the Big Bro Jack because I wanted a legit Barlow.

Would be nice if you could swap the clip to the other side, otherwise lefties have to pull it out and then rotate it before putting it on their index finger.

I really love the federalist I picked one up on clearance at 40 bucks new in box. That's a hell of a well build knife for 40 bucks, at the normal price I would probably pass as it isn't really my style of knife as I don't care to much for double detent type knives but I still think id's a fair value at its normal street price. The geometry is solid, the Cpm154 is done pretty fairly and the performance pretty decent. I'm not that much of a fan of cpm154 as it just gets a little slick even at 600 grit and even at lower grits it still gets a little slick with use fairly quickly. Personally I prefer 154cm over it's crucible brother, I think it maintains its micro serrations better than it's particle metallurgy bro. With that said you do get a good toughness boost with Cpm154 but at the expense of a overly fine micro structure steel that starts to a slick glassy edge at 600g and that's absolutely the highest I would ever take it. At 600 it still has some bite but that's about the max you can take it if you want good aggression as where I can take 154cm up to 1000g and still have good bite and very high keenness. About 1000g is the limit for 154cm as beyond that it will start to get glassy as well just due to the composition. I really would have liked them to do this knife in something like M4 or if staying stainless maybe 20cv since they work with it a lot and have for a long time. Personally I think M4 would have been THE Steel for this design and had they done that I would have bought two of them the day they dropped. Cpm154 will be a great steel for a great many people though as it's very friendly to simple alox abrasive and that's what most people have is a basic alox stone so if it was m4 most people would have a very hard time trying to sharpen it with alox, it will cut it so long as you are using a high quality alox stone but it will be very slow going due to the sheer wear resistance of cpm m4 even when it's ran on the softer side of the optimal range. Cool design that was well made with great fit and finish and a fair normal street price and complete score at 40!

In addition to its slimness, attractive proportions and choice of three blade styles, I really like that the clip does not scream that you have a knife. When clipped into a pocket, it literally looks like a pen clip. There are no cut outs, curves, skull designs or any of that nonsense, and the entire knife sits inside the pocket without any part sticking out.

I bought one of these and carried it for about a week. Pretty overrated for edc in my opinion. They sell this knife as a simple design that is timeless. They are very pretty to look at, but nowadays they're just outclassed in almost every way by knives in the exact same price range. I think that a lot of their resurgence in popularity in the states has to do with nostalgia and a drive for people nowadays to feel different. The amount of mental gymnastics that some youtubers do to defend this simple little knife as a great edc tool is astounding. That being said I will never get rid of my Opinel knife, I value it a whole lot just because of how classical it is and how wonderful it feels to hold

I managed to pass on buying Rosecraft until I saw this one - I've had mine three days now and I'm impressed. Although the RC is bigger, the GEC Bull Nose actually gives you more cutting edge, which surprised me.

Big china stamp... Bleh. No soul to it. Just designed to appeal and sell to western consumers. Still good as hell looking minus the stamp on the blade, surely a decent working knife, not doubting the quality. Not my style however. I have this weird belief hat the more love and pride is poured into an object by its maker/owner the more it gives off a postitive energy and thats one of my favorite things about carrying a knife is carrying something you inherited or someone made specifically for you. Thats what I mean about soul. I carry a crawford knives slipjoint but there are many individual craftsmen that make wonderful stuff even better than these rosecrafts all over the country Sorry for the rant have a good one man.

My wife got me a black web kore for $60 about 3 years ago and still wear it every day to support knife, gun, mag or whatever I am cc that day. It can hold anything. I Love it and just told the wife I want another for the holidays in brown leather that is less stiff. The way it adjusts is the best.
