I really very much wish that at least the old part of the building had been preserved for posterity. That was such an impeccably designed, and solidly-built structure, and to preserve it would have been an example of teaching the younger generation to value and preserve our cultural heritage. The voice of the camera-person / narrator is full of notalgia and veneration for this classic and hallowed school building. Watching this video, I am sorry to comment, is a sad lesson indeed.

I went to school there from 1980 to 1982. I used to wander around the hallways after all the students had been dismissed, feeling like the place was haunted. I could definitely feel some kind of energy there. Maybe that partially explains why this man took so much care in filming the building before it was unfortunately demolished. This building still seems to be in very good shape to me, and far more solidly and elegantly constructed than most modern school buildings are. I wish it had been saved, if only for historical purposes- not to mention in order to prevent an unnecessary burden on the education budget.

This is a trip down memory lane!! Thanks!!! The commenter, Lee, below, is why I found this. She posted it on fb... CRSHS graduate, 1983... now... if I remember the history! The area behind the boiler room, near that #B was the bike racks. They moved them for some reason... I don't remember why now. If I remember my history correctly, there were two buildings... The east and west. The east building was built around 1913... I am pretty sure I have pics. Also, check the older yearbooks for photo proof. The original west building was put up in 1930 or so... then leveled and replaced in 1966. Stokes was finished in around 1962, with the last 2 wings added, along with the library. I always thought it was funny as hell to have open breezeways, ala California Style, in an area that had WINTER!!! I also went to NHS... from third grade on. I had classes in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th wings. I do have photos of the demolition.

Hey John! This was posted by my husband Eric. He started to preserve some of my old videos. I actually didn't remember this video that he grabbed yesterday and converted. Seeng my son in marching band this year brought back some memories and I mentioned that we should convert my band videos. Julie Dyer Clontz
