Hello! I'll be gluing glitter acrylic to plastic nylon badge reels. You didn't mention the glitter acrylic in your video. Would All Craft still work well for that? I think most of my acrylic pieces aren't see through so I'm not too worried about that. The badge reel is round and smooth but has a round indent in the middle. Would that be problematic with the All Craft or any of these other adhesives?
@PantheraPress3 ай бұрын
Yep. These glues will all work fine on glitter or colored acrylic. As long as you have good surface contact the divot shouldn't be an issue but I might rough up the surface first if you can to give it better grip.

This video was amazing, I have learnt alot from it. It has also still left me with my same question, what is the best adhesives to build a clear cube that looks seamless? Please I have been trying everything and getting nowhere. 😢
@PantheraPress4 ай бұрын
The answer for end-to-flat applications (like a 3d cube) would be the Weldon. Use a syringe and let it draw into the seams.

Thank you SO much! This was immensely useful. I'm currently experimenting with acrylic for several different purposes related to the renovation of my house (e.g. for double-glazing all my windows, for panelling some walls, etc), and the question of "which glue will work???" has been a major question. Your video - done in exactly the same precise, thorough and documented way in which I would do my own experiments - is incredibly useful (and a pleasure to watch). Thank you!

Do you cut your paper down to size? I cannot find heavy weighted paper already in the sizes I need.
@PantheraPress8 ай бұрын
Sort of. I usually buy 8.5x11" and cut it down from there. Most of the time I take it to a print shop and have them cut it down and pay a nominal feel for it - I don't have a super fancy cutter and their huge ones do a better cleaner job. I just give them a diagram or clear instructions on what sizes I want.

How would you go about connecting all art to letters? I have a logo in the middle with letters on a circular path around the logo.
@PantheraPress9 ай бұрын
I'd expand the words and then just treat them like any other part of the art. Type > Create Outlines (Without seeing what you're talking about I can only really guess)

Excellent tutorial! When you're cleaning up lines I find if you jump into outline mode it's much easier to spot those random lines that pathfinder loves to create.

I studied printmaking 20 years ago in coillege. this reminds me of a reduction print, only in a reduction print if my memory serves correctly, basically leaves you with barely nothing at the end. This is sort of the digital version of it, only less messy, where you're not dealing with print making ink. I do miss the snapping sound of the brayer and the velvety look of the ink that let you know there was enough ink on the brayer to apply to your plate.

Thank you so much for this video! I watched it back when you originally posted, but I didn’t have a laser cutter then. I couldn’t wrap my mind around it at the time. It makes much more sense to me now that I can actually apply the lesson you taught in real life. 🤦🏽♀️😂❤️

a quicker way to center all the items to check if they look right after prepping for the laser cutting you can select all the parts and go into your transform tool and choose center and center and get them all aligned in 2 quick moves

? I was wondering if you could build or create a kit with a more up right, mounted stand with 4 round, 1 inch deep, clear, plastic or glass canisters with items I choose to put in them..screw tops….Dry, No Oil….!….and a light mounted under where the canister will sit to brighten scope view….I saw one of these when I was a youngster and never forgot how beautiful it was….

Great video, here is a tip for you when searching for orphan nodes, change the view mode to OUTLINE, and then when you select all it is easier to see the individual nodes or small gaps in the design.

I use CMD Y to switch to outline view to find the little stray points. You can also use shift M and use shape builder to clear out the stray points inside an existing shape.

I had so great hopes for this software, but honestly im disappointed from the outcome result. I've tried nesting with relatively simple shapes and also complex ones - in both case scenario i was able to optimize the material and cutting time 2x better, for just a little more time than deepnest itself. Tried all possible settings in different logical combinations as well - did not get any significant better results. I've noticed that the program doesn't recognize repeating shapes very well - it just drops them randomly on the sheet instead using their edges to join them. Overall for me, it didn't save cutting time or material at all.
