Yeah! Picked it up a few years ago on Discogs! Nice original. We love collecting old city pop records, but they’re like THE most expensive genre to collect 😂 So we’re still working on getting a lot of the essentials. But that’s our fav!

Great video! I love Camden Park and its old charm, one of the last parks of its kind. So glad it’s still there and its classic rides too. If you get a chance, go in October! Night rides are great on the Big Dipper and they have more haunted houses too.

Cool video!! Hey this guy, Chuck Burnham is a very close friend of mine,and a very talented painter,and one of the last painters out there that does a traditional hand brushed style,that fits perfect for these old dark rides. Hes the man when it comes to darkride art,and he is currently refurbishing his own pretzel darkride from the 40s or 50s A really cool ride with very old and rare tricks and manequins. I am also an amusement ride painter, so me and Chuck have been friends for many years, We are both working with Powers Great American Midways winter quarters in North Carolina. If you want to do an interview with Chuck,hes very knowledgable about this kind of stuff. and he owns one of the last pretzel rides, let me know and I can get you in contact with him. TJ the painter

I actually go to that bowling alley all the time because I do leagues there and I always see Rex even when I’m not there because I’m in the neighborhood next to the bowling alley my aunt and uncle work there and my aunt is the one who painted the pin she loves doing arts and crafts she gave me a necklace with a replica of the painted pin and they put a Christmas hat on him every year for Christmas and they put a mask on him during the pandemic

Oh my gosh that’s so cool! We were so happy when we walked in and saw that painted pin, it’s such a clever and well-done piece of art, you can’t not smile when you see that walking in. And that’s so funny that they dress him up for different occasions, too! Thanks for sharing your part of the Rex story with us! 😃

This episode covered some of my favorite things: amusement parks, roller coasters and haunted houses all rolled into one twisted pretzel. The Chuck Burnham art is wonderful! Didn't know there was such a thing as "dark rides". I wonder if the Exterminator in Kennywood falls into that category?
@JustaQuickDetour Жыл бұрын
Glad we could pretzel that all up for you! Good question about Exterminator...I think most would just consider it a roller coaster, buuuut there's also an argument to be made that THIS ride is actually a roller coaster, too, since it runs a complete circuit on a track and is completely powered by gravity, which is how a lot of people define coasters. So basically all the definitions are kinda blurry and it's really up to you how you want to classify things! Thanks as always for watching!

Another great video showing the joy over simple things found in small towns. I loved seeing the beautiful banana split sculpture and am glad the group of students who created it would be given credit with their names on a plaque. Wouldn't it be fun to be able to attend the Banana Split Celebration Weekend in Latrobe. Also glad Muffler Man got his head reattached. Looking good!

@@JustaQuickDetour the boro voted to take over that building (that houses the brewery and Canyon pizza) with eminent domain, without much notice. It was slated to be shut/torn down this fall for another high-rise (we are sick of those as it is). Enough signatures were collected and people spoke up though! The boro took back their vote on eminent domain and are letting the building stay. The brew now put up a sign that says “god saved the brewery” over their door.
