When we export to XLIFF, how to include all the autonumbering, prefix text, and attributes values? Enabling exposeprefix and exposevariable doesn't seem to work.

I hired into a job which uses FrameMaker as it's standard. After spending multiple months, I haven't spent months trying to learn Word, and although it may be the "standard", for my usage, I'm content with using Word. Too difficult and the interface could also use an update? Not a fan...

As of Fm 2020, this may not work for you. If so, consider the Insert >Multimedia > Online Video option

Doesn't import the figures

I've somehow made it so all my dropdown content is always visible in Design view within RoboHelp. (It's still collapsed when I publish it, but it's super annoying while I'm editing.) Does anyone know how to toggle that back off so it only appears in a popup when I double-click the hyperlinked text?

IHow do you get the footer lines to only appear at the end of the last table sheet? I have a lot of footer notes and there are too many to heve them appear on each page of the table.

The organisation I work in reverted back to FM12 because updating to FM19 was a total fiasco. Main issue was that we lost non-breaking en dashes, which meant all the serial numbers for parts got broken over the lines. Was a complete disaster. I also missed having the colour in the menu items.

Hey Adobe -- Why do you use this term 'evangelist'? It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Don't you have any secular terms for experts? Maybe the word... hmm... say "expert"?

As a FrameMaker user for 20+ years, whenever people tell me they use MS Word for any kind of documentation, my first response is: "My condolences". Yes, FrameMaker has a steep learning curve and people are so used to using MS Word and it's simplified interface, that they always complain "FrameMaker is too difficult to use." Once you throw all your preconceived, pre-taught ideas of using MS Word out the window and stop trying to make FrameMaker be like MS Word, you're already halfway there. Would I still use use MS Word? Yes, if I'm writing a letter. For everything else, I use FrameMaker. Using MS Word to write any kind of document, is akin to using a sledgehammer to cut a diamond - it'll get the job done, but the results aren't going to be pretty.

Perhaps the greatest example of a 50 minute video that could've been 15... I still don't know what FrameMaker actually does other than apparently it is some sort of factory that turns out any type of truck I need...

FrameMaker is a broken unusable tool which has an 80s look and feel ... and it crashes a lot if you don't have it running all by itself :(

Strong argument for using intelligent content to integrate the user experience when consuming technical and marketing communications. It looks like Adobe is developing B2B communication tools to create a more delightful customer experience. Although this is a very informative presentation for those in attendance, it doesn't display any of the meeting slides for those viewing the video.

Tja... "meinem" Framemaker trauer ich nach 20 Jahren noch immer hinterher. Für die Dissertation war die Buchfunktion damals tatsächlich ein Segen. In diesem Umfang muss man im Berufsalltag aber (zumindest in meinem Fall) zum Glück nicht dauernd Dokumente erfassen. Trotzdem vermag es das W-Programm, mich auch bei deutlich kleineren Dokumenten regelmäßig an den Rand des Wahnsinns zu bringen weil es halt dauernd meint, mitdenken zu müssen und gerne nicht ad hoc nachvollziehbare Dinge macht. Leider wird einem in der Firma meist vorgegeben, welche Software zu verwenden ist. Erschwerend kommt hinzu, daß Framemaker für den Einsatz auf dem Privatrechner dann doch deutlich zu teuer ist. Das 365-Paket dagegen finde ich für private Zwecke mehr als fair bepreist. Also muss es bleiben, wie es ist. Trotzdem... ich würde es lieben, wieder mit Framemaker arbeiten zu dürfen. Das wird meinen AG allerdings nicht interessieren. Da ist MS gesetzt und die allermeisten haben von FM noch nie etwas gehört - die kennen nur W. Wie sollte es auch anders sein.

Frameless skin is not Responsive HTML5. It offers support for only mobile and desktop devices, unlike Responsive HTML5 which offers support for mobile, desktop, and tablet devices. I checked this in the Robohelp 2020 release.

The biggest reason for putting the document into "anything other than Word" is to strip out all the nasty Word formatting. I have used first Pagemaker, and then for the past 10 years or more, InDesign because I want my documents to stay nailed down. I don't know why anyone wastes their time making a Word document look nice. I wouldn't trust it to carry formatting round the building. Word is unlike anything else on the planet. In all other software; the document carries all its layout and formatting information. But with Word there are a number of "gotcha's" buried in the individual installations of Word on individual PC's. These seek to automatically reset the document formatting to "factory default" - You can sweat blood over this stuff; and the very next person who opens it; it all goes pop. It even makes my skin crawl to see the default Word formatting styles get imported in my paragraph styles in InDesign. I go to the extreme step of cutting and pasting word documents into Notepad first; to scrape off all this stuff. Then copy it again; as simple notepad text. Then paste that into my Body style in InDesign. Word is a heartbreaking little swine. If anyone is submitting text to you; and they are sending it from Word; tell them not to waste their time making it look nice. It has all got to come out! - infact; my advice is; don't waste time making anything look nice in Word. Full stop. You either "do it the Bill Gates way. Or he won't let you do it at all." Get your life back - use something else. Thanks Adobe; you saved my soul.

I am using Frame Maker 2019 and the Split Document does not appear in my utilities menu. What I see in it's place is "DropBox". Why isn't it appearing in my Frame Maker 2019????
