Very insightful. As a young man striving to understand the roots of our cultural history, it was refreshing to hear the brother speak knowledgeably on this topic. I'm looking forward to reading my copy soon and taking away a greater understanding of our culture. Thank you Sista Louise and Brotha Jawanza for that great interview

One problem with history is people have been sold a fantasy version of life through their so-called education. When reality clashes with their imagined reality, cognitive dissonance occurs. Denial is a defense mechanism whenever their is a conflict between the inner world and the outer world. The outer world being different from their inner make-believe world makes people uncomfortable and so they try to change the outer world to match how they think it is. Our history was never really told, even from the scholarly perspective. Doing my genealogy helped me to see there were experiences which could never be told through history books. Even now, there is an effort to conceal the history by removing it. The jail in Watkinsville, Georgia where I believe my Great-Great Grandfather was incarcerated for fornication with a woman listed in the 1870 census as being White has been demolished. Apparently, because it was also the site of a lynching where 9 men were taken out of the jail and shot because it was perceived that the crime rate was too high. Only one of those men were charged with a capital crime and even he has been considered to have been innocent. What happened to those 9 men is documented, but what about what happened to my GG Grandfather before he met and married my GG Grandmother? That is history too.

Hey Doc. What about "History of the negro race in America from 1619 to 1880. Negroes as slaves, as soldiers, and as citizens; together with a preliminary consideration of the unity of the human family, an historical sketch of Africa, and an account of the Negro governments of Sierra Leone and Liberia" by George Washington Williams in 1882?

it seems like the African American ,community can’t solve the problem that we face. Like early teen pregnancy. and our young, becoming criminals at such a young age. this setting them up for failer. disqualifying them from good paying jobs. ETC. these should be 2 things that we can solve. but another generation falls victim .

Great program and recap of 2023 Annual Marcus Garvey Day Parade... One thing that must be mentioned is that Queen Momma Yaa Asantewaa for countless years has been spearheading and Coordinating this Annual event in Harlemn, she is the Administrator of The ANPM (Afrikan National Pioneer Movement) founded by The Hon Carlos Cooks. Its Absolutely Powerful when We All Work Together.✊🏿 ❤🖤💚

Very Interesting, your insight challenges me to dig deeper when looking at things that aren't particularly trying to send a message visible to the naked eye, but are definitely sending a message to the intectually conscious. The movie was loved by so many, yet you were able to look past some of the fluff and get down to the underlying message and share that here. I am looking forward to the next part. Thank You Both for this video. Dr. Lewin your interpretations are always eye opening. Thank You for sharing.

The fact that he has named his "school" Frederick Douglass/Marcus Garvey academy is bizarre to say the least. Douglass' and Garvey's worldview were diametrically opposite of one another. Frederick Douglass, who was the progeny of a mixed-race parents, married a white woman which Umar Johnson opposes.
