Only a small part of it is shuai jiao. The whole video is possibly about kmt military training, since the last part looks like bayonet practice.

I do not see so much Chen tai chi, silk reeling ot basics steps. I think more she was a dancer in her young and leant an older Yang form than the Yang Chen Fu simplified. She express herself but with too much emphasis and too many openings and never learnt to relax elbows.

Not Japanese, and no kendo, just similar protection. They were practicing typical Chinese blades, also one soldier with uniform like this (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Revolutionary_Army) appeared near the end of the video. Japanese troops occupied Beijing at 1937, but the video was taken at 1932. So in the video it is KMT governing Beijing, possibly in The Imperial Palace.

It is interesting that methods learnt by Fu Shuyun and Cheng Manchin (before studies from Yang Chengfu) have much more common with Chen shi taichi than with Yang Chengfu approach. Not just excplicit silk reeling, but lots of basics like steps.

They will always say that it is more than 1000 years old but they have no proof. They may have created the style in the 20th century and say it is 1000 years old simply because judo became popular. It is strange that in China this style is not popular since grappling is very attractive to me. They created it not long ago. It is a copy of judo and they are going to tell you that the Japanese copied them. The Chinese government is one of the most hypocritical governments regarding Martial Arts and culture. Xuxiao Dong already demonstrated how insufferable the Chinese are regarding martial arts.

Try again. Chinese wrestling goes back 6000 years and is featured in the book of rites published in the zhou dynasty. Jigaro Kano the founder of Judo even credited a Chinese monk for bringing shuai jiao to Japan so that they could base Jiu Jitsu on it judoinfo.com/jhist4/ I'm not saying Judo hasn't advanced enormously but its origin is clear. Historical facts.

There is a center in NYC. It came to New York by a grandmaster in the 50-60s. The Russians are really good at it. Grappling is the first martial art or combat sport world wide. It doesn’t matter the region. Even in the Amazon or Africa you will find a style of wrestling. Look up Mongolian wrestling. It looks similar(hence the Mongol-Manchu roots). All Eastern Martial arts trace its roots to India’s Buddhist monks!!!

"Who needs judo?" Is a bad title IMO. Judo has more techniques (sacrifice segment and mat work). Both styles are great in their own right.
@MbisonBalrog7 жыл бұрын
Sacrifice throws probably are the best for self defense, or fighting on surfaces harder than gym mats.
@Supermomo20077 жыл бұрын
you are wrong. i study both. shuai jiao has more throws, but judo has more ground techniques.

Shuai jiao has less gripping restrictions than judo. So will have more angles and grips to work with.
@Supermomo20077 жыл бұрын
shuai jiao is very good combination as finishing throw for all striking arts. if the throw fails, you can do ground submission in limited time for few seconds via wristlock, armlock or footlock chin na fa in some shuai jiao tournaments, depends on ruleset.judo is more pure grappling and takes more time in crosstrain for good combination with striking art.

Judo has ground grappling, chokes and arm locks done in competitions while Shuai Jiao matches only do throws. So no....Shuai Jiao is actually less realistic.
@808fdup28 жыл бұрын
very true on that point!! i stated that due to the gi, vs shuai jiao short sleeve gi, reminds me more of an every day t shirt vs a very thick long sleeved gi.. although in business world people wear suits so i imagine Judo would work great against someone wearing a suit as well. believe me, i love Judo.. i just feel like when Shuai Jiao guys throw, it seems alot more cleaner technique then i see in Judo tournaments
@edwardstanulevich17648 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you are trying to do. With shuai jiao you can throw your attacker down and then get away or him. It isn't that difficult to merge strikes into the throws either. This is why it works so well with shanshou. I'm not saying Judo can't throw and run. Just that from what I've seen, they train to go to the ground.
@pignokor55367 жыл бұрын
shuaijiao, due to its cleanese is more suitable in 1v2 or 1v3 situations. The best part of shuaijiao is that although its grappling, you are on both feet always. It helps you to quickly flip some guy up and run away. you probably dont wanna do makikomis on concrete, and you can only use ground techniques when dealing 1 opponent. not saying judoz not great tho, i am personally training judo just because more dojos here.
@mongolchiuud89317 жыл бұрын
There is a reason Shuai Jiao teams lose to Judo all the time. Shuai Jiao is power oriented, Judo is leverage based. Also there is a reason some Throws in Judo where you fall onto the opponent. Because in Judo not only do we throw you hard on your back but we throw our body weight ON to your body right after. So not just the ground hitting you but the person is smashing on top of you too. Judo has MMA champions, while all Shuai Jiao and Sanda fighters have ALL failed in the UFC. Even Cung Le got raped in the UFC by an old out of his prime Wanderlei Silva, and got beaten to a bloody mess by Micheal Bisping.... While TieZhang and other Chinese fighters got cut by the UFC for losing all of there fights....
