Elon keeps saying that 150 to200 km² could power the USA, if you really want a colony on mars and don't want to use nuclear reactors, solar is the only option, so WHY isn't he building this solar generation facility, to first experiment with the technology to prove what he is saying, and second the energy sector is massively profitable and would help fund his dream. What I have seen so far from solar is that at this stage it is just a pipe dream.
