Why does King charge 28/ book in these times of so many struggling too much, even being in DIRE straits? As a nod to the audience who he needs, who make him, its as if he is greedy. No one can sleep in more than 1 bed, in 1 room, in 1 house at a time. When is enough of what money buys more than enough? Wayne Dyer said, "The only thing we can do with life is give it away", as he asked always, "How may I serve?"

I'm now starting my writing journey at 55 years old. I pray that God will be my muse and help me find the words. I absolutely love books and reading. I think writing is a natural progression of that.😊🙏🏾📠

Shame he writes such pedestrian prose. He can tell a story - but takes far too many bland words to tell it. Most of his novels could be short stories. Trouble is, no one pays for short stories. All about the money, Lee, isn't it?

When my niece was in grade school, I bought her Caroline’s books, family poems, and poems to learn by heart. She absolutely loved them. And k liked them so much I didn’t want to give them to her.

Writing a classic piece is a daunting task even to the best. But you should enjoy every moment of that journey, and believe that it will turn out to be a classic - and eventually it does

Age old wisdom. Do you want to be a writer? Write. The more you write, the better you get at it. You tend to critique yourself. So write. Try to save what you write. Someday you will lose some memories. So keep a copy.

We know all about the catholic families that she conect with they are all without velues they neglect one ill mentaly ant. Her father and 2 uncles &grandfather and stepfather were not loyal to their wives they even share some women that they advice the women to share in front of their eyes. Even her mother had roman with Robert.they suspect killing Marlin and the woman with Adi.they all was catholic. They hs moni to play politic. The last Jeki's friend was jew the present husband of Carolin is(was?) Jew, both show them what is loyalty. But to convert to Catholic or not educat their children the heritage of judaism its biond my commonsense. If you compare the cultur of Catholic to judaizm the gup is huge. The catholic try seance 334 AD until today the catholic try to copy from judaizm everything. Yet they are like they are. Jew also have money and involve with politic very well but they never involve with desiving the basic family wife and children. They never involve with crimes & murders. The last (during 14years) partner of Jeki did not neglect his duty to his wife because she become mentally disable all was with consent with the children. They both came from Elit level of the world community.how com he atract by low cultur of disaster community. They have nothing comper to judaism. אתה בעצם אישיותך שספגת אתה מעביר מורשת וערכים לילדים - מי שלא ידעו להעריך את זה אף פעם. כואב לי בלב. עיני נמלאת דימעה. חבל דאבדין. What a west.

Good interview, thanks for sharing. The interviewer is obviously a knowledgeable fan of his work, asked smart questions and gave space for interesting and colorful responses. I loved Pat Conroy's writing and have read all of his books multiple times. The only negative thing I can say about Conroy is that every time he put a book out, I'd read it, and then I would have to wait six or eight years for the next one. RIP PAT.

Conroy says he wasn’t a good athlete. Nothing could be further from the truth. He was an exceptional athlete who extracted every last ounce of his innate talent.

This is true of reading as well: I bring a LOT more to the books I read now than i did as a 20 year old or even a 30 year old. (I'm 69). I've re-read books from my youth and recognized that I missed many of the things the writer 'hid' between the lines (so to speak). Aging is not always a disadvantage.......

Tolkien was 38 when he wrote the Hobbit as a story for his children which is another good example of this. I'm now 38 and I've determined to start writing as it's something I've always wanted to do as a child. I couldn't put my finger on why I didn't fully apply myself when I was younger but watching things like this has made me realize that it didn't feel right because I hadn't lived life enough to having anything meaningful to write about.

I've seen numerous authors talk about getting a start later in life, and I think it's one career and artistic expression that never feels 'too late to start.' However, it's always been a passion of mine and I began writing at a young age, and just published my first novel The Kings of Maple this year at 27 years old. Love to see the inspiration to start later in life but also don't see anything wrong with trying now

One of the most honest, inspiring and "real" interviews I've ever seen a great writer give about the true nature and brutal difficulty of the writing process. To see a writer of his calibre honestly admit that just because you did it once, doesn't mean you can do it again, just demonstrates how hard really good writing is to do once, let alone time and again. And it also shows how brilliant the truly great writers are, who can do it time and again.

Very insightful, and Lee child definitely knows his stuff. Importantly, he knows the kind of writer he wants to be and the types of stories he wants to write / tell. He wants to be an "entertainer", not win the Nobel Prize for literature.

great, but i so worry when people listen to this and choose to forget the " lightining and lottery" comment and choose to be inspired by this rare case of success... i know people who wasted large parts of their lives dreaming of being authors professionally and all of them regretted it. just be careful, is all i'm saying. and also, these times are different
