I'm a native German citizen now living in America. Glad to see most of the things I grew up with and admire were still semi-evident to you making this tongue-in-cheek muted and largely joy-less commentary, but I actually believe the country has lost a lot of its "proper resolve" through open-border-liberalism and integration with the EU globalism. This program was probably made before Scholtz showed some guts for the very first time to protect German culture from extremist invasions, but the abridgement of conservative speech and truth inconvenient to government has reared its WW2 head again as well, and stupid economic and political decisions abound in fractionated parties that yield no real intelligent or productive policies. From afar, I see only crumbling German productivity drowning in a sea of socialism. That is a true dark side that your middle-way misses as much as the true joyfulness of what has been and may yet be again.
