Charming scenes from a bygone age. No longer any trains. However, a newly built steam locomotive arrived at Southwold not long ago. So, there is still hope.

Such a shame the line closed, if the copper mine had re-opened after the creamery closed then perhaps the LMS would have shown more interest. Or perhaps if the line had instead extended to Hartington and the LNWR station to then build a mineral extension to the Cromford & High Peak, alongside the Friden Brickworks then maybe they'd find enough lucrative traffic to keep even just goods services until the mid-to late fifties, then allowing preservationists to move in soon after

A beautiful valley. I'm from the area but at places you could be in Switzerland or Austria. Climb up to Thor's Cave and you will see what I mean. You can walk or cycle it these days. Just do it. You won't be disappointed.

Quite a shock seeing one self from the 1960s. The film of the Britannia's at Chelmsford is from the film Britannia at Chelmsford by Michael Ham. I assisted being a close friend of Mike and my parents knowing the Station Master, a Mr Rowlands and bg a close friend. The Brit talking water caught us out, as this was most unusual. This was not the only railway film we made. See also Chalford Turnround

That was a huge marshaling yard at Whitemoor. The workers were rightly proud of it. Little did they know it would become a category A prison just a couple of decades later.
