I remember Jerry from H&H I took some of his classes from him years ago. Even though I have been tying for ears. But he had some ideas that I liked and still use today.

I have had the pleasure of fishing with Leland several times. He does fish his fly almost exclusively. He likes the top water takes and is willing to trade a few misses for the pleasure that comes when he does get a positive hookup.

This looks like an absolutely great pattern for smallmouth and largemouth here in PA. Thanks for sharing!

Hello, I've seen some of your videos and appreciate the videos very much. They are very informative. I want to start tying my own crappie, bluegill and trout flies but been slow gathering all materials to start. I've been searching for a simple rotary vise like your and would like to know where I could order one from? As far as which thread to use, I know there's different thicknesses but what do you recommend I use for each of them. Also what glues to use UV, Salley Hansons nail or supper glue ? I greatly appreciate your feed back!

We appreciate the positive feedback. We sell several versions of the Renzetti Traveler vises like I use. My particular model is older than dirt but has served me so well over the years that I don't see a need to replace it. Here's a current equivalent version to the vise I use that we sell (theconfluenceflyshop.com/products/traveler-2300-true-rotary%C2%AE-series-cam-vise?_pos=2&_fid=e3b590246&_ss=c). For thread you have a lot of choices. I tend to go with the lightest thread I can apply good tension with without breaking. For the Woolly Bully and other panfish flies, Uni 6/0 is a great choice. It's not so thick that you'll end up with too much bulk at the head of the fly but still very strong for its diameter. For glues, you can really use any of the ones you mentioned. My preference these days is for the Solarez Bone Dry Ultra Thin UV resin which we sell at the shop as well. The UV resins harden as soon as you expose them to a UV light, whereas the Sally Hansens and super glues take some time to cure. Hope that helps!

Thank you for sharing your video I really enjoyed it very much. My son just got transferred to Spokane Washington and I’m going to visit him this month December. I’m not sure how far your shop is from there or if we could even try to visit your shop. It may be ice and snow. I’m getting into tying flys and making jigs for crappie fishing. Hope you meet you soon thank again

Good looking bug. I generally use a 3 wt and a couple of Tenkara rods to chase Bluegill. Small Bass and an occasional Catfish are great fun on these light rods too.

I love your bobin I just bought one exactly like your's and I love it . Nice the by the way.If you point the hair stacker in the direction your deer hair wing is going to be tied onto the hook ,you don't have to flip it around in your fingers as much. 🙄

Thanx for the pattern , I changed a couple of things and went with what I had .I used a 70 d ultra thread in blue dun and trigger point fibres for the gills. They look great and can't wait to try them out in our Alberta ponds. Thanx again.

Absolutely awesome video captures of Coho pushing a V wake as they chase down the bait. Dolly Varden trout up in the Aleutians exhibit the same behavior, over and over again. Hard to not false strike in advance of the take when the action gets hot.
