@user-fz2xk5xv9p I removed the oil sending unit and the little extension it's attached to. It came off easy with an adjustable wrench. Removed fuel lines with line wrench. And because I was doin it anyway. I had the ps pump and ac pump out of the way. There is another vid out there I used as a reference. If I can find it, I will link it.

if you still have the floor pan you cut out, slice it up into strips and use those to practice and get your machine set right. dont trust the readouts for fed speed or voltage, just use those as a starting point and adjust until you lile the results

That's not a 11 to 1 engine. You saw that dish in them pistons. What is the casting number on those heads?? You might have a 9.5 to 1 engine? Maybey?
@TibbyturnwrenchАй бұрын
@jesseduke694 heads are D3VE. I was not 100% sure to, but I punched the info I had into the compression calculator from Summit, and it said almost 11 to 1. 10.98 something. I the pistons are dished but less of a dish? There are valve reliefs, and the dish looks different from stock pistons. From what I seen the dish on stock pistons take up about ³/4 of the piston surface. Almost like a goofy mouth open smile look, haha. I'm not sure, though. A lot of info on these motors is convoluted.
@jesseduke694Ай бұрын
@Tibbyturnwrench Well your block has a deck hight of 10.322 unless someone has previously decked it. But even if they have decked it, your pistons do not come all the way to the top. I know, I have a .030 over 460 with forged flat top pistons & I decked my block. My block is 10.300 & my aftermarket pistons are still .013 down. Stock pistons with a stock block can be almost .050 down. Plus your pistons have a dish!!! Now for the heads, if you had the high compression heads your engine would have alil more than 9 to 1. But u don't have high compression heads, you have smog heads! It's a difference of 75cc to 95cc!! So your engine would be lucky to make 8 to 1.
@jesseduke694Ай бұрын
@@Tibbyturnwrench your engine will have about 7.9 to 1 compression if a felpro stock replacement head gasket is used.
@jesseduke694Ай бұрын
@Tibbyturnwrench with D3VE-A2A heads you have to use a domed piston to achieve anything above 10 to 1. And 10 to 1 is hard to get using a flat top piston & those heads. The block has to cut & the heads have to be cut to get 10 to 1 using flat top pistons & D3VE-A2A heads.
@TibbyturnwrenchАй бұрын
@jesseduke694 definitely need to get some heads then. Was looking at an aluminum set, but they can get pricy. The dove heads can run even more, which is nuts! I'll just have to keep and eye out. For now, it's getting some lipstick and put back in after I clean the frame rails and patch the floors. Thank you for the info.
@breakawaymotorsports2 ай бұрын
Probably an early block but later heads/pistons so 8.5-1 comp. Toss a set of flat top pistons in there and a torquey cam and it will be more than adequate.

I have a bore scope coming in to take a look inside. Also, I'm going to measure the stroke as well. I don't want to tear into the motor if I don't have to. I plan on getting it back in the truck after fixing the floors and body mounts in the truck. I can budget for mods later.
@TibbyturnwrenchАй бұрын
Update. Will post in next vid as well. Has aftermarket -21cc pistons in it bored 30 over. Did quick maths with factory numbers, and it should be in the ball park or just under 11 to 1 with 466 displacement.

Why did you let the brake fluid drain all the way out. Now you have to pull the master cylinder and bench bleed it to get the air out.
@Tibbyturnwrench5 ай бұрын
That's more or less the intention. You see the front reservoir there? It's very icky. I'm going to pump fresh fluid though the system and then bleed it out. It's kind of odd though, because there are a lot of new brake parts. Seems they started to do repairs and then parked it. The lines on the other side look almost new.

Most definitely a labor of love. I started hacking at the floors and cab mount today. Hope to get the new floor pans and mounts installed in the next day or so. The front corners of the cab and the very back of the cab is the only rust areas on the truck. Rest of the truck is pretty darn good shape.
