Hi Amanda, You can do the dance to any 32 bar tune. Jigs may work better, but reels, marches or polkas would work as well. You can get some great tracks from these bands: The Committee Band All Blacked Up Steamchicken Token Women The Community Dances Manual CDs are also useful if you want tracks suitable for lots of dances.

Thanks! You can find the history and instructions at contrafusion.co.uk/Morris.html#Stuck We finish a lot of dances with double-speed sticking. The dancers enjoy it and it provides a climax to the dance, usually getting a good response from the audience. I'm sorry you don't like it.

Nope. CEROC, Le Jive was and is supposed to be a fun, "Partner dance" where the man leads and the woman dancer follows. There are so very few things Western men and women can do well together or just tolerate each other. Traditional forms of fun partner dancing was one of them. I loved CEROC in Chicago, but the talented teacher Cassie H stopped teaching, now the main activity here in Chicago is to sit on a bar stool , drink beer and watch our professional Chicago sports teams that aren't any good. Wow - how romantic and no fun that is! How about bringing back traditional forms of partner dancing where the man leads and the woman follows. Americans, British, Australians used to be good partner dancers way back in the 1940s and a brief Disco revival in the 1970s. Now Western, American guys can't dance. I don't considered "Twerking" dancing - that's dancing alone which leads to masterba****** , sex alone. No thanks.

Yes, it is a partner dance, I just happen to have two partners. Yes, I am leading them. They don't know what move I am going to do next. Yes, it is a shame that Ceroc in the USA didn't last long. There is plenty of partner dancing around - check out Salsa, Tango, Two Step, Swing, West Coast Swing, etc. There is bound to be lots in your area. Also Country Dancing, Contra Dance and Square Dance - all great fun!

@@johnthesweeney Thank you so so much to responding to my (rude, disrespectful) comment. I humbly apologize. Mea Culpa. I loved CEROC/C'est le Roc here in Chicago, this was about 25 years ago. My social life never recovered and I am now, apparently sentenced, doomed to be a single, no wife, no girlfriend, even the Chicago Escorts (~ $800 an hour and they also want Uber $ fees). God bless you sir and your dance partners. Once again, I humbly apologize for my rude comment Jaye Left behind in Chicago where our city stopped partner dancing

I attended a dancing holiday in Barcelona many years ago, and John & partner were the BEST teachers without a doubt! I danced together with John and his lovely partner (he was leading both of us) in a disco on one of the nights out. I had never done that before, so he only told me when he saw I was a bit nervous:"don't think, just follow" . It was great! But the next dance he included another lady, yes! 3 of us being led by John.! He was giving me a few tips while dancing... It was just amazing! After, some guy asked me how I managed to do that, and I said I didn't do anything! It was John...The best teacher I've ever had. Thanks! 💜💜💜

@@Chutley The earliest reference is from the Burgundian court of 1427-28. Evidence suggests the dance is of French and Flemish origin. First recorded in England in 1448. The morris dance developed from these early court entertainments which were quite different to what we see today. And it is very much English.

I did Ceroc here in Chicago ~ 20 years ago I Loved It. Sigh, I never recovered from our talented, but a bit crazy CEROC dance teacher stop doing this. It's the perfect dance. I got OK at Salsa, but CEROC is better for US middle age British guys. Is there any CEROC in the USA? North or South America? Please contact me directly, I'd like to invest my time and $ in spreading this joy. In case people haven't noticed yet, American men and women are not getting along at all - it's never been worse. Partner dancing is beautiful - most girls, women love to partner dance, with American guys... someone is going to have to make them learn to dance. So mothers, sisters, girl friends, sorority leaders - lets make the men around you learn to dance.
