We used lots of preliminary design layouts in No Limits 2 going back and forth with the client. The final track layout was made in FVD++. We exported the spline and animation data from No Limits 2 and rendered the animation with the scenery in Blender. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Also, another question, entirely theoretical. If Cedar Point reached out to you guys and asked if they could use this layout, what would you say? I’m pretty much asking are you guys trying to pitch this model or is it for fun.
@Escape_Designs4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! If Cedar Point contacted us about using this layout, we'd be ecstatic! We'd collaborate fully and provide all our resources to ensure it meets their needs. While this project stemmed from our love for theme park design, there's always a chance it could become reality. We view each project as valuable training for the future of Escape Designs. Our long-term goal is to establish Escape Designs as a comprehensive design firm, offering services for theme parks alongside traditional architectural projects like residential and hospitality design. It's ambitious, but we're dedicated to making it happen. Currently, I'm gaining valuable experience through my architecture studies at FAU and working at an established firm. Having a park like Cedar Point reach out would be a huge honor, and we'd be fully committed to working together.

I really hope they don't modernize the front gate and market place like this
@Escape_Designs8 ай бұрын
Why is that?
@tahjo78 ай бұрын
They could go with a different design language, but the overall idea of opening up the space to allow for better operations and guest enjoyment is just a natural evolution of the property, as it grows so does its needs to accommodate a growing and advancing society.
@Mrfettt8 ай бұрын
@Escape_Designs I don't think it's necessary the marketplace and front Gate are perfect how they are they fit in perfectly maybe they could use a simple paint job in the next few years but they don't need a modern redesign in my opinion that would be as bad as modernizing ghost town
@tahjo78 ай бұрын
@@Mrfettt respectfully speaking, I've spoken with a few managers and heads of security, which is in charge and operates the main gate experience. They need space to operate safely, and efficiently, they've been desperately asking and looking for alternative designs in order to more efficiently operate and process the now 6 million+ guests that visits knott's on a yearly basis. Its evolution & necessity. So yes, perhaps keep the same design language, but opening up the space has been needed since they added the metal detectors over 10 years ago, and it's only gotten worse in terms of the need for more main entrance space.

I love it but the problem is marketplace has Some buildings that are historical And cannot be removed... Great concept and I absolutely love it but that's the reality
@Escape_Designs9 ай бұрын
Oh I didn't know that! Thanks for the info!
@tahjo78 ай бұрын
The buildings you're referring to is Virginia's Gift Shop, and the neighboring Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant. This ride does not interfere or interact with those buildings at all. The building that was removed, currently houses Starbucks, Cable Car Funnel cakes, A volcom/California clothing store, Boba knott's drink store and the old annual pass processing center. These stores all utilize the same building, and it's NOT historical at all. In fact, the clothing store is currently being repurposed into a Wescom Credit Union Bank.... Strange huh.
@albertjimeno53157 ай бұрын
@tahjo7 Actually all the buildings starting from the chicken dinner restaurant are historical too, leading to the Emporium that was once the farm Nursery. The plaque outside Chicken to Go and Farm Bakery explains that’s been open since 1934. Across Grand Ave the wooden building housing Snoopy Headquarters dates to the farm days too from the 1930s and was then a Basket Shop and Wood Shop. Then by Knott’s lagoon you have a barn that dates to those days as well (and oc the chapel that was relocated there when Silver Bullet was built). The Cable Car Kitchen building has been there since 1955. (Inside you’ll see a pictures of the cable cars that once whisked guests from the parking lot to the park entrance.) Whether that particular building is worth preserving or not I suppose is debatable. Certainly the Marketplace is loaded with history. (I still think it’s sad half of it closed in 1997 when Ghostrider was built on that land, but Ghostrider is a worthy replacement. And if you look down from the coaster you’ll see some wooden shacks still standing from that part down there).

I think this is amazing! The execution of the ideas and it,s all laid out very understandably . You should contact Herschend family entertainment, who owns Dollywood (1/2) and Silver dollar city, as well as other theme parks. I don’t know how familiar you are with these parks, but they are very first class, and the creative work is outstanding. Lara McKay would be a good person to contact, who manages the creative studio, which handles all the theme park design for the company

Lots of great things happening here! I would love to see this constructed- though the total costs would exceed anything Cedar Fair has ever attempted. This would be Disney level money into the 9 figures (100+ million). Some suggestions- 1. I don't think an entry plaza for the park where people will be walking past 20 or so gates to get to theirs is going to work. Most people aren't going to get to "gate 25" if gate 3 is open to them, especially give the tight space your render shows. However, that could be remedied by placing barriers that lead to groups of 5 gates at a time, where team members could be waiting to direct them to individual gates across a few sections. 2. No sound system would be possible in competition with 100 mph speeds. The wind noise is simply too great to justify having onboard music. Hollywood Dream and Himalayan Eagle both get quite muffled at their ~60 top speed. But I doubt Knott's would spring such something that superflous. 3. Timed fastlane is great in theory, but to ensure a 5 minute wait time and meet the demands of fastlane, it would certainly need to be single use. Especially given Knott's severe struggles with acheiving throughput on most of their rides. 4. The MAJOR issue I see here is the placement and angle of the lift hill. Residents have already forced the "shed" onto Ghostrider, and have also caused the shed on Pony Express due to noise complaints. I simply don't see a possibility for that to get past the city as an open air drop toward that end of the park. NIMBYism will render several elements on this ride completely unattainable- sadly. Still, I love your proposal- excellent work!
@Escape_Designs9 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! I agree! Some adjustments may need to be made. It is good to just put everything out there and give it our all and subtract from there. I really hope that something similar can be made!
@tahjo79 ай бұрын
@@Escape_Designs excellent take, as for the lift hill orientation and placement, it's facing soak city and over 1000ft away from the closest nearby homes. Ghostriders drop directly faces homes. Pony Express is less than looft from a nearby home. What this tells me is that knott's has a form of imminent domain as they were there 1st. If complaints come in, they add sound insulation. Se thing happened at Canada's Wonderland with leviathan, where they complained about the classic B&M roar, sand was added in key areas. As for this ride, they can add a half-pipe sound shield on the right/east side of the drop, much like Silver Starr & Incredicoaster at California Adventure. I'm a huge advocate for when there's a will, there's a way Lastly, the lift hill placement, every giga has TONS of space underneath the lift hill structure. Leviathan has other rides underneath its hill. Orion has que line switchbacks, and the layout traverses underneath the drop a bit. Fury 325 is the worst... It's a junkyard basically, mixed with a returning track layout. Gold Rush would use its space, 80% for existing back of house structures, and the other 20% for a returning track layout around the drop.
@julianhudson78119 ай бұрын
KBF & CF need to see this. A gigacoaster of this scale would not only give the park a star attraction, it would also give the park a ton of positive media attention, especially in the event they decide to close Montezuma for good.

The new entry area looks great! I'd be concerned about moving the traffic from in front of the entrance on Grand Ave to in front of the Marketplace on Grand Ave. I could foresee a big backup of cars trying to park/drop off along with guests trying to cross to get to either side of the market place.
@mattsedlar9 ай бұрын
Yeah, that circle for drop-off will be backed up for miles. The current setup could be improved but at least it has traffic moving in one direction. I love the entrance plaza idea.
@tahjo79 ай бұрын
Or... Remove the turnaround drop off. Since grand has 2 lanes, but only one is needed in the new setup to provide access to the existing Beach Blvd tunnel, the right lane could be drop off, much like the current setup, allowing one lane to flow freely.

Great effort ... there are several different aspects of this project can be comments on At the arrival scale, most will arrive from the north as few arrive from the south on Beach Blvd. This coaster will be visible from miles away including the Pixar Fun Wheel. This track can serve as a gateway arch ... would be possible to cross beach blvd to the east lot? Also express the landmark structure of Independence Hall and the Gateway Structures on both the north and southern ends. This will not only be a symbol of Knott's but a signature element for Buena Park and perhaps the catalyst for urban renewal along the south. What was the inspiration for the design of the Mining Structures? It is a challenge to lean into a more period accurate solution for the architectural and the landscape elements. Historic verse contemporary? This attraction definitely wavers between human scale and skyscrapers. So the low to the ground theming lead to some interesting and iconic presentations. It may also be helpful to model the hotel. And consider additional rides and attractions in this expanded land and relocate the back lot collection of haunted houses. The backlot currently has storage the should not be within view. This new frontier would connect the Ghostrider and either Calico Rapids or the Bird Cage Theater, which requires a coordination with back of house services also. Sometimes you have to stop going down the rabbit hole. This major addition could also help to celebrate the arrival from the Knott's Hotel and the southern lots. Exciting visualization. Looking forward to future work! This is definitely an elephant that can't be eaten in one sitting. Great job.

Theoretically, anything is really possible, it's just a matter of the local ordinance. The main inspiration was Mystery Mine at Dollywood. What's great about this coaster? Is that the functionality of hiding the existing structures with rock wall facades makes the illusion that you're sunken into the ground in a mine village. Thanks for the comment!
