I love the "dog house" you made for the heater. Simple and inexpensive. I just bought the same model a few days ago. I almost bought the "pro" model, but it was about $150 more.

I thought when it runs out of fuel it does do a proper shut down but if power is disrupted the glow plug doesn't get the power to burn off residual fuel and floods for lack of a better term ?
@peterjones320919 күн бұрын
Does using the 12 volt side use less power than the ac? My cpap uses 13 watts dc but if the inverter is used it really Jacks it up.
@PerpetualCamping19 күн бұрын
Having the AC inverter turned on, even without anything plugged in, still creates a wattage draw. Therefore, it is more efficient to run on the DC side.

You could wrap the exhaust pipe with 2" exhaust header wrap for extra protection to the plastic tote or get a exhaust sleeve to slide over it. I'd probably spray paint the windows vent panel black so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb but not like your dryer hose doesn't lol,I extended the wire for the controller to go inside my vehicle. unfortunately they don't sell them for lf-bros you'll have to make your own if you decide to.

Glad I found your channel. I'm over in Strathmore and have a minivan setup, cpap and am thinking of getting the Bluetti you have. Will be following. Which cpap do you have? Phillips, Resmed or one of the portables? And where is Bovi campground?

I think you are in decent shape. Solar in the winter is always a bit of an orientation trade-off but I think your setup is actually pretty easy to clean after a snowfall. It often comes down to ensuring that the snow has somewhere to slide-off to (whether on its own or with a bit of human help). So if you make any adjustments, work on that issue. A few temporary "vertical" solar panels wouldn't hurt either but I don't think you need to make drastic changes to your current solar panel setup. On the batteries... you definitely don't want the batteries to get that cold. The solution is typically to have them in a well-insulated battery box or compartment and then have a 20W thermal blanket covering them inside that is directly powered from the DC battery bus (all the way down to BMS shutdown if necessary). Make sure the insulation is on all six sides including the bottom. Literally just left connected 24x7... though that does also mean that you need to have enough solar to handle 20W x 24h = 480Wh of energy a day used by the thermal blanket. This way when the sun comes up in the morning and the solar goes active, the charge controllers will be able to power the thermal blanket directly and get them warming up if the battery was exhausted overnight, to get that battery back above freezing and charging again on its own. It may take a little messing around to find the sweet spot by leaving a temperature sensor in the battery box slapped against the side of the battery (under the thermal blanket). You want to try to keep the batteries above 40F if possible. Batteries have a lot of heat mass so its actually a good idea to continue warming them during the day (thermal blanket left turned on 24x7) to give them more wiggle room overnight when the thermal blanket might not be able to keep up. And adjust the wattage of the blanket as appropriate to dial-in the termps. -Matt

Why aren't the batteries mounted inside the trailer?
@PerpetualCampingАй бұрын
Great question! The manufacturer designed them to be hitch mounted. I thought about moving them inside the storage cupboard at the front. However, that still wont solve the issue with snow on the solar panel

I subscribe to the channel Lumna Acres they are in New Hampshire. They live off Grid on a large farm, they have two solar arrangements one is a fixed on the ground for their house and the one on his work shop has solar on roof and the wall because of snow. Good luck, stay warm. 👍🏻💕🐾

in summer there longer sun time & at a more direct angle to! in winter you need 2 times the size of the solar panels & or a gas generator to charge battery's the truth solar & grid tie really! its tax credit & off grid living( shed size tiny house & wood stove & 2 battery & 100 watt solar panel setup & power inverter really) or close down un hook solar panels let set that way move battery s in side a heated place or charge battery's monthly let them set in the winter time really! ( we have people in charge throwing out things that don't work like ie solar types that only tax credits or power company's no backing said plans really like mine did really!) a power company co op really they said no the power lines in the ground are not upgraded so i used battery & solar backup systems campers are 3 or 4 season designs one 3 season has no insulation in floor or other areas you winterize the water pipes & hot water system to(drain water systems put rv antifreeze in water systems & run water out of lines & drain the hot water tank & shut in and out put to water lines and my camper has a cross over line to hot water lines really!) i worked in canada as camp care guy for like 10 years in 2001 i was in Canada on 9-11 really i left end of 2005 season new owners no payment and threw me out in 2 days really it was a scam really!
