How do I determine which direction the Fac vector points towards? Ex: when finding Fx for the BE beam you put Fac as positive but how do I know it will be going to the right?

unless i am missing some fundamental understanding, you have your ma opposing the applied u1. this doesnt seem correct to me. your descriptions of what is going on is very good but the sign convention is throwing me off of what is correct.
@cotynorcross18223 ай бұрын
I think the signs on the EOM are wrong. Shouldn't it be m + f = k + c since they oppose each other?
@Cax653 ай бұрын
I am very confused as to why the C normal force direction does not matter. Because I had my C as going upwards and that changed my answer to the question
@Cax653 ай бұрын
I also do not get why the normal force at C is going downwards either?

I really appreciate the effort that you put here, I understand the state space form of equation just in one hour. Are you going to use MATLAB to solve this ODE system? I need this for my PhD analysis.

F(BC) is a internal pin so it must have 2 reactions. Why is there only F(BC)y and not F(BC)x?
@ricardoplata71498 ай бұрын
Is it because F(BC)x has no force. Just like Ax would equal 0?
@stemcourseprep72097 ай бұрын
BC is a two force member so those are modeled with one force in the direction of the member. Typically if you try to include two forces for these members you will end up with too many unknowns in the problem.
