Just went through this. All of ours exploded. Best guess.... during water glassing the powers of the shell are filled. The shell wont release excess internal pressure and BOOM.... there's a mess. Lesson learned.

I wondered also. The package looked like the cooking type to me . . . not instant. If in doubt, I'd use instant.

Wow!!! They have to be SO salty! I use 1.5 TBSP of salt in 2 cups water. Are they super salty?

Just wondering why you didn’t add pickling spice to the crock. I’ve been making these for years and the spice really makes it taste like a dill pickle. I don’t have grape leaves, so I always add pickle crisp and it really makes the pickle crunchy.

They were moist and I put them in the freezer. If I dehydrate them and seal them I put them on the shelf or in larger storage containers.

Mine have been been in my food grade bucket, submerged, but they taste more like cucumbers and no mold on top. I did brine like u, tap water, dissolved on stove, but I added 1/2 cup vinegar. Is THAT why?

Maybe, I’ve never added vinegar to mine while they were in the brine.

When you ferment, vinegar is never used. Vinegar is used in processed dills in a water bath canner.

Adding Soy sauce will make the chicken turn dark colored making it look like beef. The flavor is still fine. The next batch I can, I will omit the soy and see what happens. I'll add the soy during heating for serving.

It’s my dressing ranch mix but you can make it from the pack mix and it is still good.
