The music is stunningly haunting. "My Heart is the Lover" Composer is Martin Slavin!!! - Both the instrumental and the vocal by Ronnie Hall are the highpoint of the film.

Whilst I am grateful to the people at Renown Pictures for making these rare British films available, I only wish was that these films were better preserved in the first place. This print is riddled with jump cuts and splices that take away from the entertainment factor a little bit.

Fine and remarkable film. The scene where the killer plays the Air from Handel's Water Music on the church organ as we see, in flashback, that montage of memories of happier times in his life, is one of the most beautiful and haunting in British film

Anyone know who plays the switchboard operator about 15 minutes into this movie?!? 🤔
@davesheppard87974 жыл бұрын
I just watched it and paused it at this point. He isn't in shot to really recognize him and the picture quality isn't great. So I couldn't tell. In the nightclub scene when Ronnie is singing, the name on the base drum is "Dave Clark ". Was it just Dave Clark playing the drums or was Ronnie backed by an early "Dave Clark five"? Sorry I can't be more help with the switch board op. He did look slightly familiar!! Dave.

Watched this film several months ago. It was dire! Adam Faith couldn’t act! He was shoved into the film to widen its appeal to a teenage market but with a lame and feeble script and with endless scenes of tedious dialogue, the audience must have sat there in disbelief and total boredom!

Interesting movie. Some very atmospheric scenes, especially the killer's walk around the St.Paul's area and the montage while he was playing the organ in the church which I guess was meant to suggest a motive for his crime. Much of the movie's dialogue is inaudible, however.

Renown Pictures by name perhaps, but little else. Presenting less than six minutes of the feature "Pit of Darkness" - along with distorting a 4:3 ratio film to 16:9 format is a pointless exercise.

The best thing to about this film is the singer. The great voice of Ronnie Hall singing My Heart Is The Lover of which I believe is a b side of a 45 single. If only this was available I am sure there would be plenty of people snapping this GEM up. She's Mine is a great song which is to be found on you tube and available for download on Amazon . Check it out.

I just watched this movie complete on youtube two weeks ago and wanted to show it to a friend last night, though discovered that it was removed from youtube. Was there a DVD issued for sale to the public on Amazon ? Unfortunately, the youtube user Britishfilmnoir closed his account just recently. This and another movie from 1959, The White Trap with Lee Patterson that I thought was exceptional !
