Outgoing click on the drag, nice feature, that’s another big selling point for me. The Lew’s BB1 Pro has that too, otherwise you have to buy a BFS reel to get that feature (or, get one of the click drag kits for your specific model). By the way, 6061 T6 aluminum has been used in manufacturing aluminum boats and canoes for many decades, it’s not a new material (my 1970’s Grumman canoe was made of that).

It doesn't really matter this time of year. The pattern is the prize. Take the pattern and reproduce it where ever you fish on the river.

Truthfully I’ve been looking at these for a couple months now. I fish exclusively shimano. How does this compare? These bates reels look so darn good. How does they cast? Are they smooth? Do they cast far? Are they loud when they cast?
@JakeHarshman
@JakeHarshman 17 күн бұрын
They're smooth as warm butter! I used to be exclusively Shimano too. The casting capabilities are similar to if not better than Metanium models. I have not noticed any loud or unusual noise when casting.

Love your videos! What is that “handle” you use on your smartphone? It looks like it holds your fingers so the phone is less likely to slip out into the water. Looking to find/get one of those.

Good points throughout your presentation, thanks! I got the Hobie Lynx for its easy cartopping, along with its surprising performance and stability. The iTrek takes the Lynx's portability up another whole notch, without a lot of downside. I solo kayak around Vermont, the Adirondacks, and western NH, just exploring lakes and rivers that appeal to me. It's the icing on my retirement cake.

No idea, I wouldn't purchase either. The PVC material is too thin for my liking. I'd buy an Innovative Sportsman inflatable for durability.

great job some nice fish !! do you prefer the 12'9 over the 14' kayak i think you have fished both also does it get up the susky rapids pretty good for one stop solo fishing?
@JakeHarshman
@JakeHarshman 3 ай бұрын
Both kayaks have individual strengths. The 13'6" (14) is faster, has longer range. The 12'9" is more maneuverable. It should really come down to a decision of storage space and the way you fish. If you're a run and gun kind of fisherman, I'd say 14. If you're a slow methodical fisherman that prefers to pick things apart, otherwise using less power in your motor system, the 12 is the right boat. Both are equally stable, both are durable, both are not lightweight. They're light in terms of kayaks in general but they're heavy on the inflatable scale. Heavy = Durable. All of your lightweight inflatables are very thin and not as puncture resistant as the Osprey boats.
