Welcome back, Raoul! Each time I see Ligia's videos I'm thinking about what you are up to with the countryside activities... YT notified me about the most recent clip you posted, I don't know why this one didn't went through although I have notifications on, anyways...good to have an update from you, it wouldn't be bad to keep posting videos :)

I'm concentrating on the renovation work and other projects around the house. Things are going well but the work is slow. I'm also not comfortable sharing what I'm working on publicly, so that's why I'm not posting videos about that. I guess I like my privacy a lot more these days. Ligia is planning to record another episode of DVCL sometime soon, so when that comes out, you'll get to hear some updates about our life in the countryside.

Hello Raoul, That's a great video! Like the way you presenting the lenses and visual style) Could you say if there is a difference between 2.8 lens and 4-5.6 in terms of sharpness? Have you had a chance to try 40-150/4pro? I'm looking for a compact telelens, but couldn't find any good comparisons
@RaoulPop
@RaoulPop Ай бұрын
Stopped down to a small enough aperture, just about every lens is sharp. You just have to find its sharpest aperture through trial and error. What's nice about the f2.8 lens is that it's sharp enough for me at its widest aperture, which isn't available at all on the f4 lens. I haven't tried the f4 pro lens yet, not sure if I'll get a chance to try it any time soon. My photography has taken a back seat lately due to other work.

Where are Stefanel and Bubu? Nothing deepens life more than learning what animals say, rather than trying to teach them human tricks.
@RaoulPop
@RaoulPop Ай бұрын
Stefanel was older than we thought and we believe he has died. He disappeared one day and never came back. It's likely he went somewhere deep in the forest and laid himself to rest. Bubu, the fat, lazy tabby that he was, never made it to our country home. While we were still living in the city, he came home less and less, and when he did, he smelled quite strongly of "old lady perfume". You know, the cheap kind, sprinkled on quite generously. We think he found some old woman who let him do as he pleased, when he pleased, and probably fed him more than she should, so he moved there. We were concerned about his weight so we'd put him on a bit of a diet. He was so fat he could barely climb over the fence, but gluttony was apparently a strong motivation for him. We miss him but we know the fat bastard is living a good life somewhere, if his obesity didn't take him to the grave. We miss Stefanel quite a bit and still hope he'll appear out of the blue someday, but that's quite unlikely.

I'm been in Romania for almost a month now. I'm American. These carts are absolutely atrocious. I went shopping today. It's very frustrating using these carts, especially once they get loaded down. Why? And I have only used them on very flat surfaces, I would hate to use them on even the smallest angle. It's easily fixed, just change the back wheels. Why?

Also about a year ago. I was sitting at a picnic table and a mole cricket was walking around. Then a hornet landed on its back. Put it stinger in it or whatever. Maybe it laid it's eggs inside it. The mole cricket seemed to be paralyzed for about 30 seconds after the wasp left its back. Then it came back to life and then borrowed underground. Nature!

No. We ended this project in 2021 due to various issues that had nothing to do with the restoration work itself but were making our lives miserable nonetheless. Idk why I see people defending this type of cart. Maybe it’s just the European culture, or maybe it’s because people just take things too personally; but it’s a badly designed cart. There is nothing wrong with not liking something in your own country. I personally point out the flaws in everything; especially if it’s American made. I just don’t get the mindset. It’s foolish to defend something that makes you feel comfortable just because that’s the only thing you’ve experienced. Admitting something sucks is the reason for improvement, and trying something new opens your world. For crying out loud you shouldn’t have to explain how to maneuver a cart! Carts are supposed to be simple! You push it forward and turn… that’s it! Just admit the cart sucks, it’s not worth being proud of.

Why do tin-foil hats always say "it's all over the news"? No, it's not. Stating something untrue with confidence does not make it true. And no sir, questioning a baseless conspiracy is not stupid. Finding residue on a 2k camera after a photography session in nature, thinking it's "visual evidence" a secret group wants to poison us however is. It's pure, baseless conjecture, possibly hardened by personal, anecdotal believes. It's the same with flat earthers... If you want to talk evidence, ask the scientists that are responsible for such wonderful tech as it is present in your camera. They all say it's gobbledeegoo. Sometimes I stop and think, what in the hell has happened to us? You said it man, "clown world". I am reminded of the films Koyaanisqatsi (1982), Baraka (1992), and Samsara (2011). Humanity is likened to one ant trapped in many different ant farms. I like what you said about the wonder of nature...and the horror. I remind myself sometimes that all I really need to hear is the sound of my own heartbeat. The muscle inside our chest that has kept faithfully beating a drum since day one. Before the organism even developed complex awareness inside the mind, the heart existed with a network of tens of thousands of neurons. In a sense, the heart is the oldest "brain" as it were. Our loud brains stewing in information toxicity are not as wise as the heart. The question is , I think: Do we listen to our hearts? I think listening to the heart and to each others heart is the medicine that humanity has replaced with intrigues, fascinations, and obsessions about control and power.

I unplugged from social media and got a dog and cat. My mental health has never been better. BTW, those frames look fantastic on you, nice choice! I like your style and fashion sense. I historically have known myself to indulge in the dramatic self-imposed melancholy that comes with disappointments and disasters. Nowadays I am pretty grateful and sufficiently pleased when my health is holding up, my pets are doing well, and there is food in the cupboard. I engage myself in as many intellectual distractions as I can manage in a day along with self care. I have never resorted to medications so I can't really comment on that subject but I agree that they shouldn't become a long-term treatment due to habituation, tolerance, and health impact. Indulge yourself in gratitude and useful behaviors. Find a new hobby. Stay interested in yourself and life. Take care
