I worked as a bartender for many years at a casino in Tahoe and I saw behaviors that were shocking to witness. what supposedly normal human beings are capable of when alcohol, losing money, and the existential angst that New Year's Eve brings can be about as uncivilized as any behavior one can imagine. I have so many stories from my time working there.

I listen to this every year, going on 29 years and laugh about something different in it every year. After this I’ve read everything David has published and become a big fan of Amy as well. Sometimes Christmas has been sad for my family and this story has been a big help in getting through it

This is actually really cynical. Like he can’t comprehend that anyone would actually take joy in making children smile and believe in magic. I could see myself having fun and being genuinely enthusiastic doing this job for like 2 days. After that I’d hate it, but it’s not impossible to believe that some people actually enjoy this job. And even if they don’t, it’s respectable work. These people are trying to do a good job and actually put effort into their work. He’s disgusted with that.

So apparently you don't care for David's satirical ironic darkish pointed humor. It's not for everyone. I think you shouldn't bother to read any more Sedaris, it will not please you in the least. Some of us find it refreshing, honest. and very funny.

@@ancel1961 Pastor Jennings also doesn't mind calling out these other pastors. He also doesn't mind going to their cities or countries to debate them. I've NEVER heard this man speak AWAY from the words of the Bible. The other pastors shy away from it and they add or take away from in and insert what they "feel". Especially when it came to homosexuality.

After the arrest of Christina Pearson, Alexandria Love complained about male bystanders not coming to her (Alexandria's) defense when she was fighting outside of a lounge at 3:00 in the morning. Judge Pearson decided to get involved and ended up in jail. News reports like this one is why I don't involved when adults are fighting. The graveyards, prisons, and hospitals are full of male bystanders that got involved when women were fighting.

RIP to the late, great Mr. Carroll because I will definitely miss his content and the criticism of Black America related to the foolish, clumsy behavior of these "bojangling & buck dancing" negroes.
