Even though I am an Irish descended American with the last name McCarty; this vision, along with the work of the savory institute applying the same principles to agriculture are an inspiration. I feel that it will definitely take some basic applicable, practices like paddock fences, warning flags, and livestock guardian dog breeds beyond what Scotland has granted across its history, (terriers, golden retrievers, and border collies from what I have found), and testing Highland cattle for their defensive instincts, in order to re-embrace wolves and brown bears as a final crown depicted in the illustration. Either way, I am exploring how to apply the same ideas and principles back in North America in San Diego where I live, the rest of California, and other ecosystems to spearhead and enhance conservation and agriculture as needed. I definitely acknowledge that everything must be trialed and experimented with, which is what excites me.

I have felt some optimism that the Wildlife Trusts have combined to work together as well as campaigning for their respective areas. Several organisations in London are campaigning together too, a big step forward, especially in terms of equity of access to Nature and green spaces.

Great to hear about good news like this, walked in the Cairngorms for years and always thought the lower level moors were far too barren and desolate. Glen Tannar, Ballochbuie and Marr Lodge show what it should look like. Although not all of it was forest, a lot was open glades of scrub interspersed with boggy areas. The natural world is important to our well being, just knowing we have areas of stable and high biodiersity is a good thing, to visit them is even better.

I saw a male this afternoon. I live in Gosport Hampshire. It's coastal and there's also marsh and wetlands here. I can't believe I was lucky enough to see it. I was riding my bike and it flew over me to the right about 15 feet away.

Expressive Dancing syndrome is difficult to treat. And, from experience, it’s highly contagious. Let’s not stigmatize those afflicted. Keep one’s distance while acknowledging the joy and wonder EDS can bring to its host as well as to those who witness them moving/expressing/dancing. 🌸

Unfortunately the work they have done has not been successful!! Successful hen harrier breeding is way down less curlew more predators and a tinder box ready to go up in smoke then what plant trees on it and call it a success. Such a shame the work that was done in the 10 years before the buy out was fantastic not now😢

You've got a very narrow definition of success. They are clearly thinking of a wider ecosystem; whereas you are focusing on a couple of moorland birds. By the sounds of it, you have vested interests in traditional grouse/moorland management. Estates owned by a few wealthy (usually absentee) landlords focused only on management for deer and grouse for a few select wealthy 'clients' by game keepers trained to eliminate all 'predators' and manage peat moorlands in a way that release carbon and increases surface water runoff. To me, that is the definition of unsustainable land use.
