"God is always near." Nice. While doing the crossword puzzle, I wanted to find a living-room worship that I've heard before and ended up listening to your video. I'm 58, so I'm not in your group. I think you guys are doing very well. The guy with the cap is a good preacher. You all speak well. When you mentioned how God is near, it reminded me of the time I went to a dying UCC congregation in Washington DC, which was Teddy Roosevelt's old church. Beautiful, on 15th Street NW, easily walkable from the White House. They were pretty orthodox and had a strict Reform congregation that met later. The old minister was good at talking to people. I should have gone back but they were so very few and are now closed as a congregation. It's a beautiful place. I hope the Reformed guys got it. I saw a tourist leaving before a service looking for Roosevelt's seat. This minister asked for my address because he always sent a note to a new person. His note was, basically, "God is always near." Good for him. He never gave up. I bet that most people your age aren't that used to receiving snail mail. It can have an effect. I've been thinking of becoming Catholic, partly because of the over liberalization of mainline churches I've been to in Washington, which are many, but also because the others, are, of course, very family-oriented. This is a transient city. That monsignor mentioned that he knew the minister from T. Roosevelt's church and had stood in for him once on some occasion. That was nice. I kept his note in my wallet until I lost my wallet. I like the Catholics because they are orthodox, per se. But among the other Lutheran, Methodist, Disciples and Presbyterian churches I've been to, I sometimes have seen a belief in the Apostles' Creed show. So, thanks for reminding me of the message that God is always near!
