Thanks for the video. I have been playing squash regularly for 30 years. This video will be very helpful for beginners and intermediate players to improve their backhand. Nice technique you have..

Can someone explain the logic of the two boxes? Obviously to keep it tight, but why is one slightly tighter to the wall?

I’ve got a few questions abt the technical testing part of the video. For the straight drops, are you just supposed to do it from the short line or further up. And the target is 2 pieces of paper laid beside the side wall right. And for the serve tests, can you just clarify what the targets mean. I know this video is a few years ago but if anyone could help, I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Hey man, great video. I had a question about the target for the Serve Test. I don’t really understand how it works. Is the 1.5 racquet referring to the height or the space from the back wall. Appreciate the help

what type of ball you are using for straight drives? I just can't do that because the ball doesnt have enough speed to hit the back wall and come again near me so I can shot it again.

I never had anyone teach me the proper way to hit a ball like this. 20 years of hitting like crap. After I tore my 2nd Achilles playing squash I had another year of recovery and spent the whole time in bed studying the technique starting at the grip and racket prep and angle. When. Could finally begin to walk again, doing “air figure 8’s” with an old racket in the forest with the correct grip. Search a poorly-produced vid called “Mike Way broken wrist”. Follow these basics. I can finally hit like this through muscle memory. It’s totally possible to teach old dogs new tricks if you want it bad enough!

Is it an option in squash to not use the continental (neutral) grip for both wings? Some other videos recommend it.

Next time watch the video before commenting. These are purely for ball control, he mentioned it in the first 45 seconds. This is akin to pro footballs doing keep-ups, it's all about training your muscles memorise how a certain amount of force will have an effect on the ball.

Can you please talk about how you condition your wrist and how to avoid it from breaking at the point of contact. I am having problems cutting the ball. I cut it somewhat but not enough. Also on your forehand how do you get that undercut where the racquet head circle post impact? Thank you in advance

It's always easy when there isn't an opponent. That being said, its imperative , that , to improve you need practise and be dedicated to the skill you're trying to improve. 30 min a day will go a long way if you're half-way serious about playing squash at a decent level.

Why do you think backhand is easier than forehand? Seems like there is a lot of nuance to backhand
@Gmax928 Жыл бұрын
I’d say because you are starting in a more unnatural body position (racket across the body and at left shoulder) to a more natural one when you finish the swing. The opposite is true for the forehand. I’m sure Chris would have some thoughts as well
