I am assume you are prepared for your journey, perhaps very well prepared. I imagine my seven plus decades old feet stepping down on rocks with every possible sharp angle exposed, rocks in an infinity of sizes, rocks of undetermined age in my mind. And more rocks. No matter how well I clad my feet in this experiment of my imagination, my feet hurt, my ankles ache, and my brain is overwhelmed by the terrain. I doubt I could survive what I see you accomplishing in this video. I desire to stop and let my eyes study the rocks, the slides, the erosion, if that's what I'm seeing. This harsh terrain is so hard and heavy; yet it is fantastically beautiful and loosens dozens of questions my eyes beg to ask. It excites me and subdues me. Thank heavens you are recording all of this. You seem to be prepared, in good health, up to the challenges of the day and those of the hour. I am aghast, thrilled, unable to do the journey, yet in awe of the land and your journey through it.

Unsure how literally to take the lyrics in Jose Feliciano's voice. Death Valley comes to mind here in the U.S., gold and death. I trust everyone in your company is safe and warm on this trek. And, I wonder if the ground is frozen. And if you've seen the Indian version of Buzzards. And if the flowing water is potable. The land looks both ethereal and brutal to me. Not a lot of fire wood in sight, at least from this distance. Since it's said envy is one of the deadly seven, I respect, admire, and cherish in my imagination the journey you and companions are making. Absolutely alive!

I do like this music. And I could easily look far longer at the terrain you were in. An interesting ridge of land with a seasonal, I suppose, water way on either side. When the water flows, perhaps the ridge briefly becomes an island? Fascinating, fascinating land made all the more so by the artistry of one's videos. I hope someday to have the time to watch this series in chronological order with a map at hand.

Dear Susan, This is atta height of 4000+ m. This area is barren with small streams . It does not become an island . 7 months this area is frozen . I met this girl and her guide . You can see her in the frame . She is completely blind and trying to clim the peak Kang Yatse peak . She has her name in Guiness book for climbing Siachin glacier . Amazing. I wonder what it feels like to the two of you to see this camp after being alone on foot. Might feel wonderful, might be a bit disarming to be with other people. I can't imagine. The video and its music, perfect.

I almost hold my breath as I watch this and other videos from the "life is beautiful" source. The immense distances and heights, land shapes and their known and unknown shapers . . . I'm searching for words to describe the experience. My mind is astounded, flummoxed, nearly brought to a halt by what my eyes see. The contrasts between this region of India and the region of Minnesota where I live in the U.S. take my breath away. These videos shake my sense of reality in a most welcomed way.
