Regarding the Crawlers, in MAGP 13 the thing that comes through the phone and kills the crypto bro is described in the transcript as making "metallic insectoid chittering." So maybe there quite literally are metallic bugs that travel through the web or something.

The Minister definitely knows what's up in terms of externals etc Gwen says Lady Mowbray is married to a member of the House of Lords. Also with Alice's talk of working for an evil system. Allegories of government being rotten from the inside out Lena's "were managing the bad guys" The minister is coming to inspect that managing. Saved Copy reeks of The Stranger for me You've got the doppelganger - it looks just like him, but there's little differences. It's the uncanny. Also in terms of anger management, some people who struggle with it see the angry outburts as "not them" or, another side of them that is distinct from the oerson they want to be

Gosh ok I have some thoughts and rather than send a million comments I'm just gonna write them all in this comment as I'm watching lol -For episode 44, I think I personally would have ranked it higher, 1) because I love Gertrude episodes so much but 2) because when Gertrude mentions The Stranger in this episode it's the first time we get the name of one of the entities. So it's some great foreshadowing that I love. -18:22 "Not much of a fan of [Jared Hopworth], even though he's pretty hot" this is how I know you're a true Magnus fan. Monster-f*ckers one and all, the lot of us. -I really like 53 for the implications. Especially now with Protocol going, the implications that an Archivist can over time become something truly monstrous and completely forget its humanity is really interesting. There's a big implication that the Library of Alexandria was a previous iteration of The Archive. -For episode 56, I'm not the biggest Trevor fan either, but I'm a BIG fan of the Web and that Web avatar we get (which might be Annabelle Cane?? i'm not sure if that one is supposed to be her or not). -Generally agree with your thoughts on 61, but surprised you didn't clock the foreshadowing for Daisy. The encounter that got her Sectioned was seeing someone taken by the Coffin, mirroring her fate later on. -On the topic of episode 66, I personally do not have the visceral reaction you do, but still I think it's valid to have some episodes that are skips because it's too close to home for you. There's an episode in S5 (forget what number) about prison/legal system abuse that I have to skip because it's too uncomfortable for me to listen to, so I get where you're coming from. -Also I agree with you on 79, i think sometimes TMA suffers when there's too many moving parts

Love this so much - still learning about KZbin but I believe multiple comments may help my video so don't me afraid :) - stranger name drop is pretty cool - 😏 - crusaders always fun to return to - I don't believe the web woman was alluded to be Annabelle Cane as she never really dealt with addiction like this woman did - totally forgot about the mirroring here because I keep thinking of her first mention in 43 as the first time we meet her :P - I also don't like 185 Locked In, it's on a very low tier in my s5 ranking - Moving parts ambitious but flawed, still love it much
@Apollo9898LP3 ай бұрын
KZbin recently has been recommending videos with very very low view counts i'm guessing to try to up engagement. 99% of it has been stuff I have no interest in. Your video was the first one I actually clicked on because I'm a huge fan of TMA and i can't wait to see your opinions on this season!

the Simon that was mentioned in 51 is the OG Simon Fairchild who's a jeweler, killed by Vast avatar Simon (who I assume is the 'irate customer') for his wealth and presumably used as body hopping target or at least that's how I understood it, there's certainly a whole lot of body-hopping in this podcast so

The video is about your subjective experience of the season 5, so it irked me a bit when statements like "this was off" were passed as objective statements. It would've been more interesting to me to see you explore the "why?" they felt off for you. Anywho, to me, season 5 being experimental isnt a detriment to the show. If anything, it felt very fresh to see the plot device (tapes) still being used reliably but in a different way, and then being given a very satisfying explanation for why the tapes exist in the first place. And it didnt feel like an outreach because they did experiment with the tapes before as well: having a statement giver, having the main characters give a statement/testament/gossip, hearing Gertrude record statement, having plot happen before our eye/ears. It all was new at the time. Season 5 for me felt like a crystalisation and further definition of the horror and fear. Yes, the domains are literal real nightmares, but they serve the purpose to drive home what the fears are about. The horrors and fear itself is all commentary of our society (norms, police, capitalism, gender, body dysphoria, drug abuse, etc.; you can check the TW on each episode). I feel like its more interesting to listen to magnus archives through the lens of what drives fear in people, what does it say about society and humanity. Or for example, in the majority of the show Jon grapples with coping with him being a monster, but through his monstrosity he becomes more human and humane. And theres so much more! The show is packed with so much yummy flavour and narrative that it feels like a waste to consume the show only for its overall plot (what is currently presently happening), y'know? Also, the show itself isn't scary at all. It is horror not because it's trying to scare people, it is horror simply because that's the genre they chose to explore some ideas. And I honestly think most horror is like that. My 'issues' with season 5 is honestly the ending? xDDDDD But i'll cope. Anyway, forgive my ramblings, I hope you can see a bit from my eyes and maybe season 5 will seem different to you. Happy Magnus Protocoling.

I quite enjoyed s5, I really liked statements in first person (and as you said allowed Jonny to play around a bit more) and the finale was amazing! I actually didn't care much for Martin until s5 when he got a bunch more character (for me), and I loved Jon taking the final decision into his own hands and being a rather flawed character. I was a bit bored in s4 (and have it as my least favourite) and thought 5 changed it up enough to stick to the main material but explored a new way to do so! I agree with your critics tho, it's not the best season but a great conclusion.
